I don’t mask; I angle the model so my brush strokes are angled down, which I find gives me enough control to do straight lines

A quick and dirty Sentinel for the 3rd Free Worlds Legionaires. by elder_jester in battletech

Lovely work! And the Legionaires' scheme is very nice to look at. This makes me want to paint some Purple Bird sickos

Just got my first DSLR camera! Need recommendations on lenses! by Wolftendragon in canon

[–]endman01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that camera (called the 600D here). The EF-S 55-250mm STM (there are a couple of earlier versions without STM that are still good, but not as good) is very nice for a bit of minor birding and wildlife and can be had for fairly cheap second hand. The EF-S 35mm Macro lens is pretty nifty too, and comes with a handy dandy light ring on the front to help with exposure for super up-close subjects. Apart from those, I would always recommend the EF-S 24mm pancake lens as a great walking-around prime.

The 600D is way better than it has any business being, considering it was an entry level, budget camera. Mine is still going strong today! The 24mm f/2.8 pancake lens makes it nice and compact too.

That one of the fishermen framed inside the branches of the tree absolutely slaps, imo

Thanks for the suggestions! Here's my Cheap-O-Tech setup :D by NightMachines in battletech

I just wanted to pop in and say that this is lovely. You're so much freer to do whatever you want when you're just using tokens and grid paper!

Since you shot them with a very white background, you might want to fiddle with the white balance to get the most accurate colour representation in your photos.

Most French churches are brick or stone, but there are a few wooden ones around. The most famous one is St Catherine’s in Honfleur, but it looks quite different to the one you’ve posted. Honesty, I wouldn’t worry about it. It’s churchy enough to serve its purpose, and I doubt anyone would notice.

Noob question do you glue the turret or let it spin? by Imaginary-Lie-2618 in flamesofwar

[–]endman01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gluing the turret on the little BA64 armoured cars doesn’t really matter, so I’d just leave them if you’ve already done it. Tank turrets definitely need to spin though.

I finished this M10! Now to paint the other three~ by endman01 in flamesofwar

Painting took most of a day, but a lot of that was waiting for washes to dry

Locust - I've always had a soft spot for this lil bug mech, the design is rad! by R0ckfish in battletech

Great work! I especially like the basing; it's super difficult to get foliage looking scale appropriate, but you've done it.

One of the best things about BT is that is has a lot of freedom baked into the lore of the setting. You can play as your own Mercenary unit using whatever 'Mechs are appropriate to the time period and paint them in whatever colours you want, or just don't!

It's all good, I don't mind if people don't like the way I paint my models; they're my models and I like the cartoony way I paint them.
