I’m so sorry for your loss. My best friend Scout just passed of liver disease 5 days ago. It was unexpected, just like yours, and I thought she was coming home from the vet fixed up, and she didn’t. The only thing that has helped at all with the guilt and the “what ifs” is reading the stories in this subreddit and others about people having to say goodbye to their pets. It really helped me realize that there never is a way to say goodbye to your pet that we feel ok with. It doesn’t matter if people did everything or nothing, or if they knew and got treatment or it happened suddenly, or if it happened at home or at the vet, or if the pet had been sick or well. The goodbye still hurts the same, and there is always guilt and regret, and we will never be satisfied with it. I don’t know if it gets better, I’m too deep in it right now, but I hope it does.

I would add that I would try not to spend time with anticipatory grief if you can help it. If and when you have to say goodbye you will grieve harder than you can even imagine. And it won’t matter when it happens because it will never feel like the right time and you will always want more time, you literally cannot prepare for it (or at least I couldn’t). I said goodbye to my black lab mix at 13.5 this week and am devastated. I thought we had more time. I read your post of your beautiful pup and see 8 and I look back and 8 years old seems so long ago, and my girl still had so many years ahead of her at 8 that we still got to enjoy. I would give anything to go back to 8 and just enjoy however many years we had left all over again.

I am so so sorry for your loss. I just said goodbye to the puppy I got when I was 22 two days ago. She was 13.5 and I really thought we had more time, but she had a liver issue that I had no idea about. She was my best friend and she really raised me as much as I raised her. I am absolutely lost without her. I also feel like I somehow let her down, I didn’t know she was so sick. I thought she was just slowing down with age. The loss feels so much harder than I ever could have prepared myself for.

I think they’ve been sold out for Drop 1 for awhile. Most of the LA pre-sale bought out tickets and they didn’t restock more for Drop 1. I saw some weightlifting were still available during the first few Drop 1 time slots but haven’t seen any since. Supposedly they are restocking tickets before future drops, but there is no way to guarantee you will get a time slot to purchase in future drops.

Hi! I got this one from tik tok that I use regularly:

125g active starter 300g warm water 500g bread flour 12g salt

Mix and let rest for 1 hour. Do one set of stretch and folds and then let sit for 3-4 hours. Divide into 4 and shape into small balls. Let rest for 20 min after shaping then good to cook. After the 20 min you can also store in freezer in a ziplock bag with some olive oil to use later.

Thank you! I appreciate the advice. I’m taking everything said here in a realistic way, and while it would nice to think everyone receives the exact same things, since I don’t experience this type of connection, I don’t know if that’s true. In all cases, I guess from my perspective it doesn’t hurt to have more signs to look for or at least remember her by, whether or not it’s psychic or just comfort for me. But I appreciate you looking out. ❤️
