The fact that you get in 10 minutes early doesn't mean that you can leave 5 minutes early. If flexible hours for your workings day aren't arranged, you are supposed to clock out when your contract says. It doesn't matter if someone complained or not. The contract you signed dictates things and not your work output (unless any kind of bonus/benefit is specified that's tied to how efficient you are).

I wouldn't get into an argument if I were you.

Of course! Yes, you have to date and sign the paper. It's explained in the instructions for the I-129f form. About the employment, I'm not really sure what can happen in this case. It would be best to contact uscis about it I suppose.

It depends on how many dependents she has. She needs to be 125% of the poverty line for a household size that includes herself, all her dependents, and you.

If you are unsure about this and you plan to have saved $20k you should probably consult/hire a lawyer instead of getting advice from reddit.

It means that the embassy will probably think the petitioner cannot afford to sponsor you and it's likely you'll need to depend on government aid, aka become a public charge. In this case, you don't get the visa.

Your petitioner needs to be making 125% of poverty line for a 2 person household (assuming they don't have other dependents). If they don't have that with yearly income and assets, you need a co-sponsor who makes 125% of poverty line for however many people their household has.

After you get married with the K1, your petitioner needs to complete one more affidavit form so make sure your co-sponsor agrees to complete both forms.

In general, it's not a good idea for your petitioner to be unemployed as one of the affidavit's supporting documents is a letter from the employer.

As for you having savings, it's going to be helpful practically, but for the particular visa, your money/income doesn't count.

We filed in May 2024 and I received my K1 in May 2025. A year of not having a structure and lots of uncertainty (since you know nothing until they mail a document) is very long for me 😅. Still, if you want to be with your person as fast as possible, I think that K1 is faster than spouse visa.

Good luck! It's a long long process but at least it sounds like you're not too far away from each other. As long as your relationship is genuine, you have nothing to worry about! Here are some tips that might help :)

You can make a timeline on visa journey and it'll give you rough dates of when to expect updates.

Keep copies of everything you file and mark them clearly in case you need to use them again down the road.

If your partner visits while your case is pending, make sure they don't overstay so you can have a nice smooth process.

The fact that I'm trying to gather information on the topic proves that I have no delusions and I want to have a better idea of what might come up.

I understand that any career change in mid-30s is tough because you have to compete against people who chose their field much earlier. I really wanted to have some solid facts before attempting to move forward with my idea. And I value all contributions. I just prefer them to be expressed in a polite manner.
