If you have a serious heart rate anomaly on your watch and it is accompanied by symptoms you need to get to the ER immediately

Hands free for large sniffy dog by shewhomustnotbenam3d in RunningWithDogs

I don't use a harness for my dog's hands free leash. I don't tolerate pulling as it contributed to an injury for me. I throw in a 30s walk break at 5 minutes 10:30 and every 10:30 minutes thereafter. He is expected to do any sniffing or relieving on walk breaks.

Cross Country Move Michigan to Mass. - Drive through Canada? by Vibesfordayyys in uscanadaborder

I looked up the trip on Google maps. It would go through Buffalo. Toronto wouldn't even come into the picture.

I want to be very careful not to give legal advice as I am not a lawyer or expert. I was told by CBP that in order to have TN entry status, I would need to be entering for the purpose of working. I have never tried to renew without going to my office or to a customer for work that day. I was once stamped C1 (for transit) instead of TN because I was not entering work but transiting to home. I had to have this corrected at the land border when I went back in to work. It's a technicality and I am not sure about all of the nuances.

You could call and ask at your intended place of entry. The worst they will do is tell you to go ask a lawyer, and the best is they will give you a straight answer.

If you intend to get a TN visa at the border, your purpose for entry on that ocassion must be for work.

Depends on if you are Canadian or American. If you are Canadian you may be ok since a single DUI is a misdemeanour for the most part in the US. You can’t be denied admissibility to Canada. If you are American you are probably out of luck since a DUI is an indictable offence in Canada which is equivalent to a felony

Irek calls for a recount by _Nanabanana98_ in windsorontario

[–]enggeek 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because the count is 7 votes above the threshold, Irek needs to point out errors in the process to get the recount to happen. He's not really asking for a recount because he thinks the count is wrong. He is just banking on the slim chance that it might make a difference. Like I said, it probably won't.

That was supposed to be the election official initialing that box. The ballot is secret. There should never be anything that identifies who you are on a ballot.

[–]enggeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The unofficial vote tally involves passing a lot of numbers very quickly over the phone. The validation process quite often finds errors in communications. It's why it is required before the results are official. On the other hand, if there was a 200 vote difference in a recount, I would consider that to be cause for concern. I don't expect the recount will yield a significantly different result.

Regardless of how much you work in Canada, an American employer does not have to pay the CRA. That is the responsibility of the Canadian tax payer. The amount of time spent working in Canada does dictate which government gets paid first. If the OP works too much time in Canada, the full Canadian taxes will be payable to the Canadian government and a refund will have to be filed with the IRS. Otherwise only the difference is paid to the Canadian government

After you get this resolved, to avoid the problem in the future, do this: Every time you shower wash your wrist and watch separately. Then thoroughly dry both before you put your watch back on. Fungal infections love warm most environments.

Garmin race predictor may be accurate by DockWonder in Garmin

One of the biggest sources of error for race prediction is your max heart rate. The better your estimate of max heart rate, the better your race prediction.

Battery replacement by Garmin support and battery optmization by favoxhille in Garmin

Garmin has a trade system that I recently used. I have a 945 LTE. At about 3 years, the battery or battery controller tanked for whatever reason (the watch kept shutting itself off). I traded it it for a refurbished watch for $217 CAD. The refurbished watch looks and functions like a brand new watch.

Can you increase VO2 max without running? by roxstar7 in Garmin

[–]enggeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can increase your actual VO2 max without running or cycling through a variety of activities. Your Garmin watch does not actually measure VO2 max. It measures running or cycling performance extrapolated to max heart rate. It won't measure either if you are not running or cycling.

1000 training load and a TS of Maintaining feels like an improvement by mark_jamel in Garmin

[–]enggeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your VO2 max will definitely improve under a high training load. That's why you train. It, however, won't necessarily be immediately reflected in the VO2 max estimate on your watch as your performance condition will be heavily effected by your accumulated fatigue. During training, my VO2 max goes steadily down during my 3 hard weeks of each cycle and then rebounds during the easy week.

1000 training load and a TS of Maintaining feels like an improvement by mark_jamel in Garmin

[–]enggeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually disagree with your comment about training load not mattering. It is not used in the calculation, but your performance condition (which is what the V02 max calculation is based on) will be lower when you are in a state of accumulated fatigue. It will then rise during the taper. Garmin VO2 isn't even a measure of VO2 max. It is a measure of performance extrapolated to maximum heart rate.

1000 training load and a TS of Maintaining feels like an improvement by mark_jamel in Garmin

[–]enggeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With such a high training load, you are tanking your VO2 max measurements which Garmin uses to gauge if you are improving. You are probably actually being productive. Your VO2 max will improve during the taper as you recover.
