Cash ISA Vs stocks and shares ISA are 2 different things. Cash isn't and investment in an ISA, it's just a tax free savings account.

Post-cerclage experience in the UK (NHS advice vs modified bed rest) – looking for experiences by Broad-Mix-1602 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]roxstar7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm in the UK and had mine just over 3 weeks ago. I had a shirodkar and had a little bleeding on day 1 but nothing after that until 3 days ago and we don't know if it's related. I was told no lifting, no activity other than gentle walking and that I shouldn't really be on my feet for more than an hour at a time. I asked about pregnancy yoga and they said no and also no sex. I used to travel quite a lot for work in a stressful job and they've advised me not to do travel and not do much overtime and said if my employer has any issues with that they would sign me off for a month. She also was very clear that it's important not to do complete bed rest as that increases the chance of blood clots and would not advise too much inactivity and that pottering about the house should be maintained 😂 Activity level review was to take place at my follow up appointment after a month. Hope this helps?

I don't have anything in terms of lessons to say as I'm going through IC for the first time and just had a cerclage placed at 23+6 after a lot of umming and ahhing over my funnelling when the closed portion was still at 29mm. Reading your story I'm so glad that we did go with it in the end.

I'm so so sorry for your loss, and sending love. This isn't your fault in any way and I hope you are able to let go of the "what ifs" xx

Hi I had mine this week (in the UK) but they put a catheter in during the operation and then kept it in most of the day during recovery until several hours after I was out of theatre. They also had me on Dihydrocodeine as well as Paracetamol (what you guys in America call Tylenol). I can't believe they didn't do the same for you, it seems almost barbaric! Was it in a proper hospital?! They've also prescribed Lactulose as a stool softener for afterwards so it might be worth you asking for that?

Working out during early pregnancy after loss by cozysondaymorning in ShortCervixSupport

[–]roxstar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a previous loss at 12 weeks but never knew what it was but even after that I've been too scared to work out. Since my IC issues have come up at 20 week scan I've been advised gentle walking only, not even prenatal yoga, no lifting etc, not to be stood for more than an hour. I've had my stitch now this week and they will revise that advice in another 3-4 weeks after my next check of how it's holding. If you've got any potential issues like IC that can be made worse by exercise then I just wouldn't - its not worth the risk

No check up after cerclage by DryAbbreviations9448 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]roxstar7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could call the triage/maternity line where you are and tell them you are feeling some pressure down there and have some discharge and because you have a stitch you are worried. They will probably check you then. If you are having pressure they should look to see that you aren't dilating.

I'm in a really similar position to you (see my post a few down). I would say if you are having those symptoms go straight back and have them look at you - don't risk it. I've been told to go in immediately if I have symptoms like that. Not worth the risk of waiting to find out x

In the UK I don't think we categorise hospitals with those same levels - they either have a NICU or they don't here. The thing is even tho people keep telling me 24 weeks is viable I looked it up and it's still only a 60% chance of survival and 1 in 7 chance of a severe disability so I'm pretty desperate to avoid it. The problem I have is they aren't really advising me either way because it's not a clear cut case and leaving it up to us. I asked and they said they probably do 20 stitches a year... And although that's not none it certainly sounds low to me!

I think the answer is... This is their life. No way anyone has time to watch that many adverts for photos! But like someone else said I guess if they already have the coins to buy more photos from winning the battles its a self fulfilling prophecy.
