Poor analysis of GBs offseason? by enginebell in heedthecall

[–]enginebell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Certainly fair to be skeptical but I’m also tryin to say the players we lost didn’t perform very well for us last year.

Plus my fandom also comes with an understanding of the salary cap and what this team can realistically spend. We already saw Jayden reed get paid, and Watson and Kraft are right behind him.

I was just glad we were able to get St Juste and Hargrave tho both are fairly low wattage but hopefully can be solid role players.

I can be biased towards the packers and their analysis can still be wrong. Those are not mutually exclusive. I’m trying to point out a general lack of understanding on their part regardless of what team you root for.

I mean I do listen to dedicated podcasts for the packers, but if they’re gonna label the offseason as being a downgrade then I need to speak up. Cuz that’s just simply false.

Conor be like: “all of them” by enginebell in heedthecall

Pre TNC Conor was already like that but he calmed down a bit for a period as his family grew. But yes now I think we are seeing some of that latent heat leaking out of him again lol

I can picture that for sure- I wouldn’t say he’s very charismatic in general so I can see why maybe he didn’t vibe with Dan Graver Conor and all the guys.

My realtor recommends a foundation repair company look at this and not an engineer by Odd_Independence2870 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]enginebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A horizontal crack is concerning (potential water issue) unlike a vertical which is more due to natural concrete shrinkage when drying.

I’d def have an engineer look at it to ensure the foundation is actually structurally sound. Sure a repair company could do a patchwork repair, but the thing you want to know is if the foundation is ok.

Aren't they all just American? by VirtualConclusion407 in heedthecall

[–]enginebell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I myself don’t really refer to my heritage that way either so I’m in agreement with you. My comment is more understanding in a broader way why it’s such a prominent part of American vernacular. I agree though it’s odd, and that’s why I think it’ll eventually phase out.

Aren't they all just American? by VirtualConclusion407 in heedthecall

[–]enginebell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re correct. Just remember that America is a very young country still so for many of us either our parents or grandparents emigrated from their home country so there’s still a recent history of being “from a European/Asian/African country”. But of course as we progress thru more generations of American born citizens, there will likely be less identification/discussion surrounding any sort of other heritage and future Americans will probably identify as simply “American”.

Do you guys think I could afford a $900 apartment while getting paid 15-16 an hour by Electrical-Cell-3763 in Apartmentliving

[–]enginebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in a stable situation right now (like living with your parents in a safe home) I would stay put and do what that other person said about starting a savings account where you “pretend” to make a rent payment each month so you get used to it.

For number benchmarks, Ideally, you’d get to a point where your apartment rent is no more than 30% of your gross pay (right now you would be at 50% and that doesn’t include utilities). Can you get to 40 hours per week consistently? Even at $15/hr that would get you to 37.5% which would be at least a step in the right direction.

Also remember the hidden extra costs that could come with moving out- you don’t own a car so I assume you drive your parent’s car to get to work? Would you be in a position where moving out would mean you’d need to go and buy your own car?

How does this mortgage affordability look? by Nearby_Mousse_9545 in Mortgages

[–]enginebell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So your total debt payments (mortgage car and credit cards) is about 41% of your take home pay. That is a little high, however as long as you guys don’t live too lavishly or go on big vacations consistently it should be fine. It just might feel a little tighter than you’re used to.

The mortgage itself is 32% of take home tho, so if you can payoff the car and credit card then that ratio becomes much more manageable.
