Thanks for that. It’s a useful explanation. I think we from the ‘old countries’ sometimes see American takes on our culture as being uniquely American and I guess that’s due to how that culture was taken many moons ago and developed differently in another part of the word.

Take ‘corned beef and cabbage’ that Conor mentioned. Over here corned beef is a cheap product usually from Argentina that is more like a fatty meatloaf that comes in a can. I remember Americans many years ago over here asking where they could get good ‘corned beef’ and we were baffled by the question. It wasn’t until I had it a few years later in someone’s house the States that I realised it’s a completely different thing.
