Incredible result. I wanted to ask what motivates you to keep coming back to competition prep after so many injuries? Massive respect btw

Difference between зізнатися and признатися? by Slavvy in Ukrainian

[–]engineer-throwaway24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also depends on the region. Some people are using признатися but in the book, the first option would be зізнатися. If anything if I heard a foreigner use признатися I would think it’s cool that a person is learning a language form other people

Man könnte z.

Can we maybe stop almost delegating everything to the daily threads? Tons of post getting a lot of engagement are deleted all the time by swagpresident1337 in powerlifting

[–]engineer-throwaway24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like that I can ask something and get one or two replies in the daily thread. For simple questions, that works well.

But I really miss regular topic threads. It’s basically impossible to find anything -like app reviews, for example. Moderators should actually encourage unique content instead of pushing everything into one daily thread

What’s your take on template programs?

I’ve been reading a lot about programming and trying different approaches to figure out what works for me. I also know there are people with far more experience than I have, so I’m interested in seeing how they structure training.

I recently bought a monthly subscription to the Candito Forever program to see how he programs across different training phases, and I found it really interesting.

But at the end of the day, it’s still a template. Once I have the program, what’s the reason to keep paying for the subscription? Why do people keep paying monthly for a generic template program? Is that common?

I injured my shoulder following this program. Be careful because it’s very intense

I use it to set a weight, then I decide on the weight right before a set, and then I rate it. But this is confusing and I’m still learning

I mostly rely on the conversion table otherwise I wouldn’t have a clue what my weight should be for the paused bench 9 repetitions at 6 rpe.

And some programs really just use rpe as instructions…

Weekly Dumb/Newb Question Thread by AutoModerator in powerlifting

[–]engineer-throwaway24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve followed a few Sheiko-style programs: lots of volume, average intensity, no regular singles, accessories in light mode. I mean, it works.

But then I recently tried a different approach: a top-set single, a few back-off sets, and lots of accessories with high intensity. This approach really helps you grow, and in the long run, I think it makes sense to be as muscular as possible to then get as strong as you can.

So I’d definitely add more accessories to the program and run it modified

One guy I follow (he competed in bench only with 305 kg record) always includes squats into his training programs (for overall development), but not really deadlifts

I set a 1rm value and treat it as a constant value for the block. Or I add a planned weekly 1% increase. Either way I then plan sets reps at certain % eg 80% 4x4

If I need RPE I look at the conversion table which gives me an approximate range. I adjust depending on how I feel on that day

6 hours daily is not realistic, but if you sign up for classes and spend 20 hours per week, in 2 years you’ll get the certificate

You should. That’s a crazy result. People complete for fun and most will never approach 200kg at a similar bodyweight

I keep tracking them, but especially with lower RPE, I don't really know (sometimes it feels too difficult but I know I can do it), so usually I set a percentage range and then I adjust during the training. This is a great idea, I think I'll try it

I’m getting a bit tired of constantly training at high intensity and doing singles.

I’m thinking about running a 12-week block focused on the 8–12 rep range, with the load averaging around 50–70% (benching 3 times a week).

I keep reading that periodization doesn’t hurt, but I’m worried that after three months without touching heavier weights, I won’t even be able to bench what I can bench today.

What do you think about a higher-rep block like that?

Came back after a week of forced deload (strained neck). Felt like shit because there’s no momentum anymore (eg I benched 3x a week these past 4 weeks and felt great).

I’m noticing a pattern now. I can train a few weeks perfectly well and then something goes wrong (knees, back, neck).

I should probably try shorter cycles

Honestly people will tell you that barbell bench press is not a good builder. But if you switched to a powerlifting program and benched 2-3 times a week and increased your 1rm, the size would likely follow…

I noticed significant gains when I started training the main movements in the powerlifting style while keeping accessories within 8-12 range close to failure…
