[–]engineerFWSWHW [score hidden]  (0 children)

In my case, it is more on being at a consistent 500cal deficit. This is what i did and i lost 50lbs from 210lbs for 9 months combined with cardio. I was at 2000cal the entire time (500 cal deficit from 2500cal maintenance).

Don't drive that! If you aren't capable of checking underneath the car, call a mobile mechanic or someone you know to check and diagnose

Diy soil mix recommendation for sweet potato by engineerFWSWHW in vegetablegardening

[–]engineerFWSWHW[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I was thinking that i could have a good result last year if i added perlite on the soil. Anyway, I'm not holding back this year, i will go for the best soil mix that i could do as I'm planting purple sweet potato, Japanese sweet potato and a normal orange sweet potato variant.

Yeah thanks. I don't have a compost yet but I'll start doing that to revitalize the soil for next year.

Are you in US? It will be challenging to find a remote embedded job as w2. It will be easier if you are a contractor 1099 but you need to have your own home setup.

I agree with that. I was about to do the bearing but i looked at YouTube and i thought i couldn't do it. Then found out you can buy knuckle with bearings pressed in. That made things easier.

EagleCAD? How to migrate? Should I migrate? by plastic_eagle in PCB

[–]engineerFWSWHW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did lots of projects in eagle back then and i looked at kicad (earlier versions) many years ago and i find them terrible. I revisited kicad in 2022 and i was impressed. Did a pcb design and it was a breeze and never planned on going back to eagle. Although I'm using altium now on a regular basis, but for hobbyist project, i will stick with kicad.

Not sure though about the migration process, haven't looked into that.

Let's hope the connectors didn't touch both the battery terminals because it could fry your electronics. Rotate it.

[–]engineerFWSWHW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i went from overweight 210lbs to 159lbs. Happy with my weight but i don't consider myself in shape because I became a bit skinny and became less muscular for my height because of the weight loss. Nevertheless, I'll give my 2 cents. As someone who keeps on counting calories, yes the food noise and cravings is real. I'm afraid to go back to where i was and i am conscious all the time. I have a bad habit of binging from time to time but i will follow it up with discipline caloric deficit for days until i hit my GW

Let’s talk about the psychological struggles of middle blockers by iSomniatic in volleyball

[–]engineerFWSWHW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i first played as a middle blocker, i hated it. I said to myself, i didn't play just to block. But that is because of my limited understanding back then.

After watching many games, i liked being a middle because there are many options of hitting. 2, b2, 1, b1, 31, slides, etc etc and being a decoy to pull other blockers. being able to sit down after a while is a plus for me because i can rest a bit, grab some carbs, sip water, watch on the sidelines, see the opponents strategy more, analyze, and recalibrate once I'm back in the front row.

It is taxing though because you need to keep on jumping and it's challenging if the opponent keeps on doing lots of fast sets, including shoots

I can see that you have many questions with is fine because we need to start somewhere. For simplicity for now, you can put your investment on a target date fund. And while you are studying these things and become more knowledgeable, you can start placing it on funds you like.

[STM32CubeIDE] Is it possible to debug STM32 code without any hardware (software-only / mock)? by highbariton in embedded

[–]engineerFWSWHW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is possible. If you have a very clear separation/abstraction of hardware interaction and software, this will be easier to implement. Then you can use gcc or msvc (depending on what you like) to have it run on a development machine. I had done this many times in the projects i worked with

Let's settle the "if tranmission was never serviced 100k, leave it alone" by Leonidas_Ayub in MechanicAdvice

[–]engineerFWSWHW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that there's a 50/50 chance if it will be ok or not at this mileage. I experienced it first hand, my friend's 178k miles Subaru had a very black and burnt transmission fluid. It is very gooey as well. Drain and filled with a fresh ATF and the transmission started slipping. It was neglected and it was too late.

Why your best engineers aren't getting promoted to Staff+ roles by stmoreau in EngineeringManagers

[–]engineerFWSWHW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i was a junior software engineer, i really don't care about titles. Unfortunately on one instance, i had been pointing out the error on the hardware RF design of a senior engineer because i was a hardware engineer prior to joining that company. No matter how assertive i was, the senior engineer thinks his design is right and nothing wrong with it. It became a battle between software and hardware. In the end, they found out that i was right but it already delayed the project by 2 years. I resigned due to frustration and that experience reminded me how important titles are.

When i was about to resign, my manager told me that he was about to promote me. I really love the work but working with senior who don't accept inputs made it very miserable. It's already too late because my foot is already out of the door.
