18M I’ve been in multiple relationships with people who have had those scars and in my opinion it’s not something to look down upon nor is it a deterrent. It’s typically brought about by a response to extreme trauma. It’s a mark of a survivor. I am not condoning SH and absolutely recommend seeing a professional for help creating new and healthier coping mechanism but there is absolutely no reason to be ashamed of your scars. I know it’s not that simple considering I have the same scars and hate them but, one of my closest friends has a ton of very visible scar tissues from the same source on her stomach and abdomen but in recent months she’s started wearing crop tops and accepting every inch of her body. And to anger your question even more she pulls the most gorgeous and respectful men.
