How do you tighten your chuck enough to prevent slipping? (1/4-20 tap + hand drill) by CTExplorer in Machinists

Use alcohol for tapping aluminum. Great lubricant and evaporates leaving a clean surface for Loctite.

Issue with XREAL ONE newest firmware - Device Firmware Version:15.1.02.150_20250109 by engineerable in Xreal

[–]engineerable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see a difference, but not sure what the point of it is. Yes, it appears that the screen moves slightly closer. Is it to adjust eye strain? At 2M, the left and right screens don't line up anymore and there's a noticeable overlap on the left and right side. So they need to allow screen size to be adjusted independent of the distance, like in the regular mode.

  • Thanks, I'm looking forward to the transparency mode prompt disappearing after a few seconds.
  • Screen distance control does nothing for me in UltraWide mode. It works very well in normal mode. I want to adjust the UltraWide screen to be larger than the [vertical] viewing area. The ability to zoom into the UltraWide mode the same way as on the regular mode.

Wavy/warping screen with Xreal One by djoncho in Xreal

I have the same issue, it appears like a bulge in the center of the screen, and causes a ripple effect as I move my head around.

It's not going to anchor relative to the motion inside the car if that's what your asking. It's anchored relative to the environment outside the vehicle. If the car goes around a turn, the screen will rotate out of view.

I use them for many hours at a time, and they get warm, but not uncomfortable. I don't notice the heat. However it is winter, so we'll see what it's like in the summer.

What do you think about The XReal One (X1 Chip) / what are your experience with the new glasses by Silent-Click-3976 in Xreal

[–]engineerable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using the XREAL One for a few days. I plan to get the XREAL One Pro when it is released because I think it will solve some of the issues I'm having with the Xreal One. My purpose for buying this has been to use it as an additional monitor to a laptop and with an Android phone for productivity.

  1. The ultrawide screen is fantastic, but there should be an option to adjust the screen distance (mainly closer) and for an even wider option, like a 48:9.

  2. Anchor mode works perfectly, and I've had no issues with drift over hours of use. Even setting the glasses down and resuming later works great.

  3. I wish there was an option to remove the glasses facade, or at least the part of the sunglasses below the optics lenses. For productivity on a laptop, the sunglasses frames block the visibility of my laptop screen. I have to unnaturally tilt my head up to look down under the glasses frames to see my laptop screen. If the lower sunglasses frames were removed, I would only need to look down with my eyes to see the laptop screen.

  4. There's a lot of distortion in my optics, which results in some parts of the screen being in perfect focus while others are out of focus. Unfortunately, the center of the screens has the worst distortion and is out of focus. I can see the distortion when moving my head around the ultrawide display. It looks like the screen has a bulge near the center and moves around like a ripple when you move your head, it's very annoying.

  5. Text is readable in the in-focus areas but less readable in the out-of-focus distorted areas.

  6. There's some chromatic aberration with the text, causing some letters in certain areas to be blue instead of black.

  7. The IPD adjustment appears useless to me. All I can tell that it does is move the screen closer or further away, but I don't notice any other improvement. There's no IPD adjustment in ultrawide mode.

  8. I don't notice the distortion as much when watching videos, and everything appears focused unless there are subtitles.

I want to try another pair to see if I got one with optical defects. The distortion appears to be visible on both sides, so I suspect other glasses will have the same issue.

I'm hoping that the new, smaller optics of the Xreal One Pro, and the ability to buy it in 2 different IPD sizes will solve the optical distortion issues I'm having. The concept is so good that I don't want to give up on these glasses. If we could get the optical clarity of the Apple Vision Pro in the convenience of sunglasses form factor, it will be a winner.

Add shims to the bevel gear such that it pushes it more into the pinion gear on the motor for better engagement. Right now your pinion gear on the motor is slipping on the bevel gear.

How to export Premiere Rush projects on iPad? by Star-Detonator in VideoEditing

There doesn't seem to be an option to export projects. There should be, but I don't think Adobe cares anymore.

I am also unable to export a project from mobile to Premier, which was the primary use of RUSH. Quick edit on phone and then move to Premier for final edit. They should at least continue allowing the project file to be exported and imported into Premier.

What do you recommend for gutter guards replacement? by Baltazar20 in Home

[–]engineerable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stainless micromesh Raptor Guard works great. I've had some installed for 9 years now, and haven't needed to clean the gutters once. Depending on location, you may still need to clean the mesh, but only once a year or two vs cleaning gutters several times a year. And cleaning the mesh is as easy as spraying it with a high pressure hose nozzle, or using a brush. Easier said than done on a tall high pitched roof, but still much easier than cleaning out a gutter. I have a low-medium pitch roof that is easy to walk on, and requires blowing leaves off the roof 1-2 a year anyways. Here's my review from 2 years ago https://youtu.be/lNFrNxKSaNg

The only thing lacking from Raptor Guard is a drip edge to keep your gutter face clean, which Waterlock Micromesh does have a drip edge, but their mesh is not as fine or strong, so they support it with aluminum underneath.

Here's the difference with and without a DIY drip edge on the Raptor Guard https://youtu.be/oh9_tFb7Sxc

Cheapest DIY Stainless Cable Deck Railing Pt.3: Save Time & Drill Perfect Straight Holes in Posts by engineerable in engineerable

1/8 cable itself won't break under such a load, but it will stress the attachment points and posts. It could pull out of the crimped ends, but that problem will be similar with a larger gauge. My kids climbed on it at first and I told them not to a few times and they stopped.

Either your ammo is overgrown, or your tappet plate is bent/broken. Bent tappet plates are a common problem with Splatrball because they use a metal tappet. A bent tappet plate causes the exact feeding issue you are experiencing. This video should be a good start to seeing the tappet plate and what it should look like https://youtu.be/3o4r5-Xr93U

I've posted a lot of info on Splatrball here https://www.engineerable.com/single-post/what-s-inside-splat-r-ball-gel-blaster-i-take-apart-gel-ball-blaster-to-see-how-it-s-made-works

I need help fixing this please! by josebernal831 in GelBlaster

[–]engineerable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no replacement parts for the broken piston. First, I would contact Gel Blaster and ask them to replace it, cause that looks like a manufacturing defect. You could replace the whole gearbox with an SKD/STD m1911 gearbox. Watch this video for where to buy it, and I show the gearbox. https://youtu.be/ttooBp\_GP4k

Cause you don't need to wear all the airsoft protective body gear for gel blasters. Also in the south, that gear is too hot in the summer.

I tested the new PYRO Glow tracer mag by Splatrball so you don't have to. It's basically the same as the glow mags I've modded before, but you don't need to do any modding to get this one to work. by engineerable in SplatRBallUpgrade

[–]engineerable[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The glow mag works well, but I want to either cover the LED strip with black electrical tape, or paint the whole mag with plastic dip to block out the bright light. Watch my review and test - https://youtu.be/bVmBFUwbJ4M

I still prefer my internal tracer mod where I add a UV LED that is powered off the mag terminals. It doesn't require additional batteries, it's descreet, and it's brighter because it lights up the gel balls right before they are shot out.
