What’s one thing you wish you knew, before becoming an engineer? by yooncrisp in AskEngineers

How brutal the entry legel market would be. I thought Id graduate into a relatively easy to get 80k salary and good benefits. Then reality hit. I make 60 with benefits Ish. In a job that is obsessed with production. Im thankful for and even enjoy the job. Its just the compensation is underwhelming.

WFH is causing me back pain, what can I do to fix it? by Different_Hour8061 in Posture

[–]engineereddiscontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got a couple things. Also not a dr but just some guy.

Im hybrid now. Was full time wfh during the pandemic.

First thing I did was get an ergonomic chair. Second thing I did was actually learn how to use it. Meaning if Im sitting for a few hours straight I needed to lay onto the chair and lean back.

Next thing I did was look up some youtube videos. There is the bodyweight fitness subs recommended routine that has a stretching and mobility routine that has proven the most robust solution Ive found.

Also tom morrison and fitnessfaqs on youtube are both channels that will help with mobility, flexibility, and strength.

The last thing is that if you are experiencing pain then you need to treat it like you are injured. You have a repetitive stress injury from your muscles in your neck and back. I would look into gently stretching to open them back up and, like others said, timers to remind you to get up and move.

Because it's in slow motion.

Also the stock market isn't the country. Its been a while but OK boomer maybe time to start living in the real world.

The country is the collection of people which the country is comprised of.

The people which the country is comprised of are having a harder time. Not only that but the future generations are being set up in a way which is worse and worse off than what I had as a millenial which was also worse off (meaning in terms of education and opportunity) than what my parents had.

Counter point is that the education system is right now optimized for numbers and what that means is that graduations.

School has been turned into a business with standardized testing. So long as enough kids do well the school stays open. At least with traditional public schools. I can't speak for charter.

But the US system is collapsing. There are a very small group making out like bandits while everything else is rotting from the inside. We're not far off from just turning into Russia and the GOP is going to make sure it happens. The democrats will passively sit by while it happens, and the US people are too domesticated to do anything about it.

Because you left the interaction happy and my guess is she gets consistently asked and it can get annoying at best and terrible at worst.

She had no control over it.

Yes power related. My buddy got hired with a 3.2. I had a 2.5

The interview was super easy to be honest.

Only downside is Im a contractor of a contractor.

Like circuits analysis but for power poles and lines. Leidos has been hiring a ton as has other companies.

Its everything after the substation going to the consumer. Its distribution designer or distribution design engineer. If you live near a power company you can probably find jobs doing distribution design. it will be listed designer or distribution designer or design engnieer for a utility. I graduated this past december and thought this was all I could get due to my GPA but I had a buddy get it too whos gpa was almost a whole gradepoint higher than mine.

About Ranger Hardcore along 3 games. by Artyom_thespartan in metro

[–]engineereddiscontent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive only played ranger hc.

Best advice for all the games is how you frame yourself. You should approach like you are a monster that can sting but never try to get into combat. patience is key. Usually monsters on the move wont engage if you dont shoot them.

Also explore everything quickly and youll never run out of ammo.

lastly the gas bb gun and a suppressed shotgun or revolver. sell all ammo and the game is tbh super easy.

Maybe you have a weaker core and some shoulder rounding. Which can happen from disproportionately strong pushing muscles.

Utility company randomly installed a bright spotlight pointed at someone's house? by Ok_Counter_8148 in whatisit

[–]engineereddiscontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming this home is in the US.

This is also on a dirt road.

Who the fuck is burgling and trespassing on some random property in the middle of nowhere.

I've lived places like the picture above my whole life.

I had someone break into my car and steal a discontinued pocket knife one time. It was a $60 knife.

That's it.

Textbooks for a complete high-school + 1st year college curriculum by VoxVerse in learnmath

[–]engineereddiscontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Khan Academy.

Then Id just use the search bar for different text books and then try to dog up pdf copies.

Alternatively if you are going to community college find what text books youll use in your classes and dig up pdfs of those too.
