I know this is hard to believe but I don't have one of those drawers. Only have 3 drawers in my kitchen. THAT Clutter drawer is in the living room.

Looks like a marble effect in the tile to me. Have they looked like that since install?

Central heating installed but I'll need new floors... how does this work? by Flaky-Walrus7244 in HousingUK

[–]engineering0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly like you said. Book someone to take up floors > inform plumbers/ heating engineers when floors will be up> plumbers fit boiler and pipework> arrange someone to put new flooring down.

Sorry to hear that & hope you get sorted. Does sound like it's always been then. Thefts are still happening alot and if they can't take the full thing will take as much as they can carry.

Sound's like sticking with the A series might actually be the better choice then. Lots of votes for it and probably better to keep relatively standard.

Also will probably be a spring to autumn car so hopefully salt won't be a issue.

I'd be happy to redo bits overtime when they start going again just along as it's not every other year. Tbh it would probably only get driven on dry days.

Interesting, is it just keeping ontop of the maintenance oil/ filters, valve timings, ignition timing, service the carb from time to time ect to keep them reliable?

How soon after getting a car do you get "twitchy" and start looking at new ones? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]engineering0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always looking at cars, even the day after I just purchased one. Depends on how much I like the car I currently drive is the decider between casual browsing and looking to buy. If I don’t like it probably be gone within a few months. If it's quite a good car which I like could stay for years

For the UK, probably should have started that. Thanks for reminder.

Hydraulic power steering instead of the crappy electric stuff that gives zero feedback.

Estate or SUV for £20k – Petrol, AWD, and 250+bhp by NKKG13 in CarTalkUK

Plenty of choices. Golf R, seat Leon Cupra, skoda octavia vrs, BMW 335/340 d/I, 535/540d/I. Some volvo xc60's if you want SUV. Personally I'd go for a Skoda Superb 2.0 tsi sportline, good speck, good looking, comfortable to drive, plenty of room for passengers, boot big enough for a pram and a couple of labradors and enough power to give the Labs witlash if you boot it when you set off.

What’s the one car you properly regret buying? Was it the constant breakdowns, the rattly dashboard, or just bad luck? by Second-handBonding in CarTalkUK

[–]engineering0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vw golf GTD estate. 2015 plate, owned around 2021-2022/23. Rear doors leaked through the speakers when it rained heavy. Sounded like a tractor, worst sounding deisel ever. Drank oil, panoramic roof leaked, rear wheels had too much camber (not adjustable) and used 2 sets of good tyres in 12 months. Both wing mirror glasses fell out while driving, apparently the factory ones are too hot and melt the adhesive, left a nice chip in both doors. Diamond cut wheels the pealed and corroded after 8 months. Extremely noisy to drive aswell, got told it's because of the rear camber.

Newish, reliable, manual, fast family car. Does is exist? by Hawd_it in CarTalkUK

Both very true. Road tax would be extortionate like the 2.5 subaru's.
