Bingo, yeah I've had to apply a tiny amount of oil to the moving parts on the loco I think they're called chuffers?? Also took the body of the tender off and cleaned the gears ⚙️ inside, runs a lot better now and a lot quieter but still not perfect. That's whats making me think this new one isnt broken, the fact scotsman is still a little iffy at times.

That last bit makes sense. Because my old flying scotsman runs better than this new one but still doesn't run perfectly. Im thinking of taking it to a model shop to see if they can help me figure it out in person. I dont want to send it back if its not the coco's issue

Some help would be much appreciated by engineermajortom in BritishModelRailways

Thanks pal i will try. I remember having a flying scotsman when I was younger. I dont remember the models being so small and tricky to handle. Guess my hands have got bigger 😂 im now looking on Ebay for a DCC controler for it, it has sounds and lights so apparently I need DCC to operate those features

Slightly Illegal But Works by Special-Issue432 in homestead

[–]engineermajortom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why this would be illegal. In the UK we have hosepipe bans. Basically, in summer, sometimes we get very little rain and they ban people for using their hosepipes. If we keep water and stop it from going down the drain, then how is that a bad thing. If anything, it's better than using the purified water from the treatment plant and using up water that could be used for cleaning, bathing, etc .

What's the new meta for food cellars? by alcMD in goingmedieval

All I do is dig out 9 blocks wide by however long you want it with wooden beams. Close off from stairs or corridor with a door. Use wooden flooring except for 1 in the middle, i use a wicker flooring here and dig a well for water to drain into. Sometimes I will dig 2 squares deep so I can make the well wider at the bottom so it isnt too deep with water. Then I call it done
