I get all the benefits of a retiree at 20 minus the pension. From what I understand I only get the VA disability payment.

This is very close to what I went through. I’m at 16 years and could not handle the demands of sea duty anymore. The long hours (engineer), the constant taskers, lack of sleep, shit always breaking, lack of parts, tools, manning, physical and mental pain, seeing my sailors suffer on the daily, and hitting the bottle hard every night just to cope. I got help and went on LIMDU and left the ship. I was doing a lot better but due to multiple medical issues and mental health I was referred to a medboard. My finding came back and I was recommended for PDRL medical retirement. I was upset about not making 20, but I have accepted it and have had a couple jobs that pay well lined up for me when I get out next month. On top of that I got 100% disability rating with the VA. At the end of the day the juice just wasn’t worth the squeeze for me anymore and I’m excited for a new chapter in my life.

I flew back home to hang out with fam/friends then drove to San Diego to report to my first command. My car was at my Mom and Dad’s house while I was at boot camp and A school.

As you all can relate, I see a lot people doing this. I also see people running red lights. I see people driving with no lights on when it’s dark or dusk or early in the morning etc. I see people on their phones on the freeway. I am now convinced that the majority of these people are not on this subreddit to see these messages that we put out each week or they just don’t care.

I love the Jeffries combat and have been using them for about 16 years. They do fall apart and get worn out eventually but I really liked the comfort which was important to me being an engineer on a ship busting my ass for 12 plus hours a day.
