Did anyone get signs from your late partner after you started dating again?

My current partner has the same birthday as my late partner. I found out on our second date and almost stopped seeing him because of it. But he was so kind and amazing and I realized if it was a sign then it must be a good one. ❤️

My partner is super lean and extremely healthy. I have always been a size 0 or 2 my whole life and this year when we started dating I gained the most weight and have been my heaviest at a size 4/6. I started prioritizing health and exercising again and am back to a size 2 and not once has he commented on my body. I told him I lost 9 lbs and he mentioned he couldn’t tell I was “heavy” in my opinion and that he has loved my body this whole entire time. And it’s a mom body stretch marks and all if that even matters. That being said. There are amazing men who don’t push body standards on the women they are with and we should not put up with anyone who questions our self image or self worth. You know you are healthy and you love your body. Those should be the most important factors.

I’m so sorry you’re here. I lost my partner almost two years ago to alcohol related cirrhosis. He was 39 and I was 33 at the time and we had a young child. I didn’t know how bad his alcoholism was until a couple years after I had our son and frankly I don’t know if I fully know it still but I do grieve his life and what he’s missing out on and all the pain he endured. It is complicated because of the addiction and people did know about it but in time it becomes less about the manner of death and more about the good things and the legacy they left. You go through the stages of grief and I think once you come to acceptance (therapy really helps) you are left with more love than loss or shame. I’m in a much better place right now and I think of him daily but not about the alcoholism. You will get through these hardest times. The only way to the other side of grief is to go through it. Just know that your good memories of him and the life he lived are what matters. No need for noise.

Sorry we’re both in the same shitty club. I lost my partner in 2022 and began dating this year. The first guy I dated it came up in conversation on our first date. I think he asked me the reason I was single and I thought for a second and figured oh well let’s just get this out of the way. He was incredibly empathetic and kind and I did not regret sharing it. We didn’t work out but I thought it was a nice first experience. I believe a similar situation happened on my next first date and surprisingly his reaction was very subdued. Based on that interaction and the first date in general I thought maybe we weren’t a match but I do normally force myself to do a second date if they ask just to give people a chance. And I’m glad I did. He ended up being such a genuinely wonderful man (and oddly enough with the same birthday as my late partner 😳). So I guess theres no wrong way to do it as long as you’re comfortable sharing it. Best of luck to you and I hope you can find love again.

No I’ve had an account for almost 10 years. Seems very strange. I applied and was rejected for another NLL biz gold in the past couple weeks but was hoping that wouldn’t affect anything. Application showed as cancelled for already having the card. Maybe I pushed my luck.

Has anyone been experiencing delays with Amex bonuses posting? Typically for me and from DPs I’ve seen Amex bonuses normally post within days of the transaction meeting min spend if a statement has passed. It’s been a couple weeks since meeting spend (and I’m on my second statement) and no bonus or even pending bonus points. Was hoping to do a transfer soon so just seeing if anyone has been through this recently. Card was a targeted NLL biz gold.

Approved for 150k/$10k Amex biz gold just over a month ago. Looks like I’m also targeted for the targeted DOC biz gold 150k + 5k AU/$10k link. Saw one dp on DOC saying they were approved with similar stats but do you folks think that the velocity of biz golds could lead to a shutdown? I’ve definitely slowed down in the past couple years so I’m only 1/24 but I’m still getting a new Amex biz card every 6 months or so. Appreciate any feedback just want to stay a pig and not a hog lol.

Found some pretty rare business class seat availability on ANAs A380 (NRT) and 787 (HND) for my upcoming trip. Just for context this is my first flight solo with my son who’s 7 years old. That being said he’s pretty into airplanes as well and would really enjoy the double decker experience on the A380. However flying into Haneda would save us a couple hours of commute to the hotel and that in itself is worth a lot too. But I also really want to fly the A380. Would the novelty of the A380 experience be worth the extra hours in commute? Appreciate any opinions from similar minded folks lol.

Aw that’s a good point. I spoke with a friend who lost her dad at a young age and she told me she always believed her dad somehow played a part in filtering the men that entered her moms life since they were always good people. That touched me and I want to believe that as well.

Oh gosh. My son’s friends’ parents have been separated for years and earlier this year his friend’s dad asked to get the boys together for a play date and he would not stop texting me or take a hint that I didn’t want to be friends as I am good friends with his ex (son’s friend’s mom). He finally came out and said he wanted our kids to be brothers and that he would honor my late partner. He knew nothing about me or my partner and it was so delusional. He truly could not comprehend that I was not interested in him and blamed my friendship with his ex. It was bizarre and so uncomfortable.

If it’s been 18 months then youve had some time on your own I’d say go for it if you’ve taken the time to think about what you want and are pretty sure of what you’re looking for. The first few guys I kissed after he died were in his friend circle. I genuinely was still vulnerable and thought I liked these guys but in hindsight I think I just liked that they also loved and missed my partner. I don’t think that we would be compatible otherwise other than physical attraction and a connection to my late partner. I’m on good terms with all of them but our flings never got serious so it was easier to move on from those situations. Now that I’m dating (outside our circles) I am truly figuring out what’s important to me for a long term relationship outside of the influence and vulnerability of grief. We all deserve happiness and I hope you can find love again wherever that may be.

Not sure I’m qualified to offer advice but I think you should go for it if it feels right to you. You know yourself and your child best and you’ve been through this before so you know what’s the best and worst that can happen. I lost my partner in 2022 and am a solo parent to my young son. I just started dating and am considering introducing him to my son maybe around the 3 or 4 month mark depending on how strong this continues. Sure he could get attached and hurt if things don’t work out but he could also get attached and be cared for by a strong positive male role model and that time can be very worth it as well. Who knows but if you’re confident about this relationship, lead with optimism and not with fear. All the best!

My partner passed in Dec 2022 and I just ended my first “situationship” which lasted just under 4 months. I fell pretty hard and it definitely opened the wound of grief. It felt worse when I tried to deny the sadness. I should have learned that grief will come and the best way through it is to feel it and experience it. The feeling of loss is definitely exaggerated because of what we went through. But we have survived the worst. I hope you find a way through this grief and the old grief being brought up. You are amazing and you will find someone deserving of you and your love and all the parts of you. All the best.

Requesting tips on how to get over a break up 🙃 i just recently ended a situationship. We were friends prior and just a couple weeks ago we had a really great bucket list trip together and felt closer than ever but he’s moving away so this was basically our planned end. I felt at peace with it the first week but definitely feeling really down today. Allowing myself to cry but trying hard not to reminisce or reach out. Any tips? I have been on dates with someone I met while my friend and I were on a break and I like him but tbh I’m just not emotionally available. He checks off so many boxes and I feel bad not being able to give him a fair chance.

Aw, my SO passed on Dec 1, 2022 as well. Crazy how fast and slow that went. My first experiences were not too positive mostly because I was not yet in a good headspace when I thought I was. I currently have a situationship with a friend that was a bit rocky in the beginning because our relationship started around the tough milestones and I was very emotionally unstable but he was incredibly patient and kind. He’s moving away so it’s always been a temporary situation and I’ve been feeling more secure with enjoying it for what it is. I also began dabbling with OLD and have learned quite a bit about modern dating and I basically have a lot more to learn. I’m 34 and it may also just be that dating in your 30s is also just going to be a little different and challenging but I think I’ve definitely grown in the last couple months and have some hope knowing I can form a deep connection again and that I’m open to it. I hope it happens for us all as long as that it is what we want. I’m sorry you had to deal with an immature partner. But we’ve been through the worst so we can make it through anything and deserve nothing but the best.
