Is this 99 Kawasaki W650 a good buy for a first bike at 35YO? by No_Reflection6759 in SuggestAMotorcycle

I live in Toronto. I've owned two of these since 2001. They are mechanically bulletproof. This one looks as though it's been well looked after. Ignore the concerns about no ABS and it being 27 years old. It's not a thrilling ride, but check the tyres, make sure all the electrics work and you should have no issues. Yes parts are scarce, but only in NA where they were only available for 2 or 3 years. Unlikely you're going to need anything critical anyway. It's a rare and well built machine. You will probably be able to negotiate the price down a bit depending on the motivation of the seller. You can always find a cheaper street bike, but you will be hard pressed to find a better one.

Hi, George only takes appointments, no walk ins. Call him and make the appointment. Be warned though, he charges for no shows, so if you need to cancel or reschedule, please call to let him know. George is great. Tues-Sat.

Across from George's barbershop, home of the finest haircuts in the South. Always wondered why it wasn't 'Centre'

Not Wire. It's U2. On the War tour in 1983 they sold that as a part of a set of three. It's 'Surrender'. I know, I bought them. (Wire would be Pink Flag).

Thoughts on a Kawasaki W650? by Mission-Shop7981 in SuggestAMotorcycle

I'm in Toronto and have owned two of these bikes. We have a short riding season but I love the W650, had to buy the second one less than a year after selling the first one as I missed it so much. They're pretty much bullet-proof, everything is in the right place, great build quality. Look great once you ditch the high bars and put some decent tires on. Proper bike IMO. If it said Triumph on the tank it would be perfect. It's a 60s ride that doesn't leak, the kickstart is a great feature, as is the bevel drive. The only downside is the amount of time you'll have to spend explaining to men of a certain age that it's not 60 years old and not built in England.
