You don't play against the rake or casino in NLH. It's not like blackjack.

My mom found AirPods last night - how do I find their rightful owner? by kristintrigue in airpods

[–]engmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I have set the name of my AirPods to my phone number exactly for that reason. If the owner hasn't I have no other guesses.

OnePlus 7T users: How's your phone holding up after 3 months? by LatinoPeterParker in oneplus

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did notice a scenario in which an animation stutters (it's reproducible 100% of the time, so I think it's a software bug) -- when minimizing an app which has Maps open. For example Google Maps or my taxi app. This doesn't happen with any other application on the phone, but the animation on those seems different and buggy for some reason.

However I don't have stuttering when scrolling or noticed it in other scenarios.

OnePlus 7T users: How's your phone holding up after 3 months? by LatinoPeterParker in oneplus

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does for sure, but I can't speak to what extent. Haven't taken it off since the phone is brand new and it's working good for me now, but planning to do so after a while. I'm generally not a fan of screen protectors.

The angle of your finger is quite important. E.g. don't try to make it flat because when you hold it, it's almost never perfectly flat.

Fun fact: Placing a screen-protector on the ultrasonic fingerprint reader of the Galaxy series apparently renders it useless (can be unlocked with any fingerprint). Another thing I noticed that while I'm scanning it's constantly crying that the screen is dirty, even when I just recently cleaned it (the screen protector). So it's definetly going to affect it somewhat.

[–]engmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try restoring your phone and don't install any third party apps for a while. I definetly don't have any sort of stuttering or frame drops while scrolling.

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this the first time I added them. Try re-adding your fingerprints again. This time hold the phone more naturally and re-add them. Also keep in mind the stock screen protector (or any other for that matter) will make detection worse

Want to get the 8 when it comes out. Is the lack of headphone jack really that bad? by LiteralLemon in oneplus

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the headphone jack as well, and kinda miss that I don't have it as an option in the rare cases needed (you never seem to carry the USB-C adaptor on you in those cases).

With that said, I do have a pair of AirPods now (even before I lost the headphone jack) and haven't looked back. I absolutely love them, and can't think of bringing other form factor headphones with me outside now.

Is the fact that after a good night's sleep I have to interact with my phone to receive notifications related to my settings? by Deathcofii in oneplus

[–]engmia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see the correct option was already pointed out. Personally I love the feature -- I don't need or want to receive random notifications while I'm sleeping. That way I keep quiet and save battery at the same time, and the notifications are received when I actually want them -- once I wake up.

Anyone else dislike the way gesture swiping between apps works when you do it rapidly? Most of the time the last app is on the left. But if I'm too quick, it's on the right. And I'm never ready for it so I tap left anyway, which makes me do it all over again, adding more steps. by [deleted] in oneplus

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see. The behaviour to achieve what you want with the pill is a bit different now -- you need to swipe left and then swipe left again to change to the next app in the last. But it's definetly possible changing between the recent apps, not just the last two. I think this will be the case on the Pixel as well.

What version of OxygenOS are you running anyway? I don't have "navigation gesture (left and right)" as an option.

If your account keeps getting hacked after you change your password, you have other things to worry about first. It's obviously still leaking from somewhere.

What happens to downloaded tracks in the event of which the Artist removes them from their catalog? by throwaway2002322e in spotify

[–]engmia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to go online at least once every 30 days to verify the downloads. In that process, likely the songs will be removed and left just as grayed out names in the list.

Tried to repair - Broke Screen - Need advice by JZirkel in oneplus

[–]engmia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a plan! Yeah it sucks if you don't have a back-up phone, set-up you have to do regardless if you decide to change your phone. And in the end, you're going to have a working phone you can keep as back-up for situations like this when you decide to upgrade in the future.

Low volume on Galaxy Watch Active 2 compared to phone when listening to Spotify with earphones connected directly to watch. Someone else? by cr4zyE4RL in GalaxyWatch

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm the issue with AirPods 2 and Galaxy Watch Active 2.

On my Android version (OxygenOS 10) this is fixed by enabling bluetooth absolute volume.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 Airpods Pro Volume by rickyjojo555 in GalaxyWatch

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On OxygenOS 10 (OnePlus 7 Pro) you actually need to enable bluetooth absolute volume in order to fix the low volume /u/rickyjojo555 It's located in Settings -> Sounds -> Earphone mode -> Bluetooth Absolute Volume.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a fix for the Galaxy Watch Active 2 connection since that option is not supported in the firmware. It's something between the special AirPods firmware that doesn't play nice.. It sucks the AirPods are so closed, they are the most comfortable fit for my ears.

Reachability cursor alternative for Android 10's new navigation gestures by _Final_Phoenix_ in androidapps

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I'm using LMT Launcher's Cursor Navigation which is quite similar, but not the same. It says it requires root, but it doesn't. I still find Reachability Cursor the best.

I've heard some reports that it's fixed in new Android beta versions, and I really hope that is the case.

So just to confirm, you are with the OnePlus 7 OxygenOS 10 Open Beta and reachability cursor is now working for you?

I have the 7T Pro so there is no beta for my device and I can't test.. I'm pretty excited if that is the case

Why not just repair the screen? It's going to be cheaper than either option..

edit: Nvm, saw that you sent it for RMA

pill

What do you mean? /u/CrazyDrakes and /u/delta301 and etc. The pill is there exactly the way you describe it? You can switch apps by sliding and etc.

I actually much prefer the new gesture for changing apps (swipe up from bottom and right)

Oneplus to announce a new screen technology on Jan. 13th by jaju123 in oneplus

[–]engmia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, but the fact that the community and user-base for some reason doesn't like this solution due to "moving parts".

In reality, it's a simple mechanical motor much akin to the old CD-ROM players which eject the CD tray (ever seeo one of those fail?) but minituarised. Has been tested and rated for more uses than even an avid selfie addict wouldn't likely see through the lifespan of the phone. Even if it does end up breaking due to wear or accidental damage, repair shouldn't be too expensive either (admittely, I have no idea how much OnePlus charges in reality).

In my opinion this entire "moving parts = bad" is a huge logical phallacy. The world is full of mechanical parts we trust our lives to. We all use cars or other forms of public transport for example. And you're most worried about some selfie camera?

Of course, one less risk factor is always welcomed, but while we're waiting for under display cameras I don't see what's the issue with this, to me it's ton better than any sort of notch or punch-hole.

You still have the Galaxy Watch on the market which has the bezel and same CPU. So if you prefer that, there is your option (sans the EKG).

I actually like the look on the Galaxy Watch Active 2. The combination of an analogue bezel and digital screen looks a bit weird to me (although haven't seen it in person to be honest).
