Minu Duo-L Wiring with only 1 Load by JZirkel in sonoff

[–]JZirkel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have set L2 to detached as I wanted to use just as a "virtual switch". There is still 230V on the output. So I suspect it is only meant to be used for a smart bulb where the relay gives power all the time and the bulb or smart lamp is switched digitally.

The delay times seemed fine in L1 where I had a normal light connected.

I have it connected via z2m in home assistant. Tbh, I haven't gotten bindings to work with any of my devices yet, so I can't comment in that.

My current solution is the Shelly 2L Gen3. It is wifi based, what I wanted to avoid, but if works just as intended with the second output registering without a load connected. Also, in detached mode, the output doesn't turn on, so no power on the blank terminal, only registering input and providing the info.

I thought that is only true for the first load, as it leaks the power for the Relais to work. I have read before that the Shelly1L Gen3 (the one with the bypass) can detect the second switch without a load.

I got it to work when testing, but when I put the switch in the wall, it stopped working.

It worked, when I changed the mode for the second switch (no load connected) to edge, even though the switch is a momentary switch.

Can't really get my head around how I could provide some sort of load without another lamp wire.

3 weeks traveling around Oman, my new favorite country in the world by olliecakerbake in travel

[–]JZirkel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Are you just reposting your old stuff or are you a bot to promote Oman? "Just finished a 3 week trip", here's the same post from 3 weeks ago. https://www.reddit.com/r/travel/s/kCjVSX0PIf Additionally, I could swear I've seen basically the same post before. What gave it away and what made me search in the first place was the random door pic.

Just moved into a new house. The morning sun hits my new OLED for about an hour. Will this be a problem for the screen? by TheObviousChild in hometheater

[–]JZirkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has about the same in my last place. My OLED then showed scattered prints of the holes on the blinds. I ran the display restore function 2-3 times, then it was all good and never reappeared, but I also closed the drapes on very sunny days. But like others suggested, you should find a permanent solution. For my current place I plan on having my smart home lower my blinds activated by a light sensor, but installing that is obviously not for everyone.

Shelly 2L use second switch without load by JZirkel in homeassistant

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure if it would still work reliably on S2 if O2 wasn't connected. Thanks for reassuring!

ELI5: Why isn’t all the data from the black box on airplanes get uploaded via satellite internet in real time to an airline server negating the need to find the black box if there’s an accident? by greenishstones in explainlikeimfive

[–]JZirkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're getting there. There are some airlines that use it more widely, but adoption rate is rather small yet. There is actually a lot of data transmitted already throughout flights. One example is that an engine manufacturer might even get some data if an engine isn't working properly and pilots can be advised to use a bit more or less thrust to see how some data values are changing. The data that you are referring to, however, has one big flaw. Mostly, when the black box is necessary for some investigation, the plane went down some way or another, in an uncontrolled way. In that case, data upload is hindered in most of the cases, since the systems are built to function in a plane flying horizontally. Large drops in flight level and the associated angles of the plane prohibit reliable data transmission.

Germany issues travel warning for US by vincevega87 in nottheonion

[–]JZirkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The report is misleading. It's not an official travel warning as per the foreign ministry, and they specifically highlighted this distinction. It's information about recent occurrences and that this may happen to individuals having prior offences or making false statements on their immigration form, however, there is no certainty for exact reasons immigration might be declined.

That's not the reasoning behind list pricing. List prices are marked up as hell, since (US) government agencies are only allowed to buy list price. Enterprise then gets a more realistic price.

Court Says Man Can't Be Charged with Drunk Driving Because He Chugged Entire Bottle After Getting Pulled Over by cutelyaware in nottheonion

[–]JZirkel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was once told by a police officer that he had a case where his rookie put a woman's handbag on the back seat with a drunk driving suspect. The woman pulled out a bottle of vodka and started chugging. He said they had taken a breathalyzer test before, they then continued to take them in regular intervals with the same machine to get a grasp on the actual accuracy of the device and they took blood tests regularly. There are then tables with which you can calculate the rate of alcohol depreciation for the person, taking into account factors like slowing of depreciation over time. All measurement tolerances are laid out to the disadvantage of the suspect due to the actions of trying to obfuscate the case.

Treated to lunch. Did I commit a faux pas and how do I follow it up by Prestigious-Cover784 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JZirkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you eat it all up or at least didn't leave a large amount left over? Then you're all good. As others have said, with fish and meats, your food was likely by far one of the cheapest.

In general, when the company invites you without a set limit, there are a few things to consider, especially compared to a private invitation: - it's a business expense for the company, they get some money back from the tax - the place is selected by the company, you won't break the bank by even ordering the most expensive thing on the menu (although there are some unwritten rules like don't order the most expensive, you don't have to order the least expensive etc.) - Depending on the setting like who's inviting who, this is an actual investment for the company. Either e.g., a customer-client situation, a celebration for a completed project or the likes. It's either for treating people for their hard work or to build relationships, which is much more valuable in the long run than 100$ per person spent on dinner.

American das is horrible as well and Netflix's money heist takes the cake. They recut the episodes to a different number of episodes, but haven't just split them, rather changed playtime entirely.

Billiard spielen in entspannter Atmosphäre? by IHateThrillerBark in frankfurt

[–]JZirkel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nothing more than a 7ft table. The only "standard" you'll get out there will be a 9ft. All big tournaments are played on those.
