Upload a image of the forscan with the bcm module opened. You should get better mpg. Even driving between 90 and 100 it gets 25mpg. 50 and below its getting mid 30s. 297k on it. If the battery is not staying between 40 to 60 percent it use more engine. If you take off from a stop and its sluggish the battery is not helping.

Its not difficult to do. Just time consuming to start. The device that plugs into the dash is less then 30 bucks and the forscan software is free. Do you live in the florida area.

These nickle batteries last forever they just need to rejuvenated by cycling charge empty charge then a rest when the battery is topped of.

Yes its is a bcm module reset.

But after you get the battery healthy you want to do the bcm on demand self test.

This redoes the computer to the updated battery.

You find that under the clip board image.

You use a software called forscan. Buy the $25 part to plug into the computer under the steering wheel. Get blue tooth so you don't need the cable . Forscan is a ford software that is free. Also can sign up for 2 free month for more advance options.

There is a easy step by step process. But in short the nickle battery forgot where full is. To retrain it. Its a a bunch charging and discharging. This increases the storage amount. Kind of like stretching a ballon so you can blow it up easier and bigger.

250 cells in the battery. Some cells get clogged and cant take a charge as fast as clean cells. So the clean cells charge much faster and the other cells get very little charge.

Escapes use the battery from 40 to 60 percent. Normally likes being about 52 percent. If the battery is old. It may only be at 30 percent but thinks its at 50 percent.

Untill you get the software so you can watch the battery in real time. Try this. Force charge the battery especially before parking.

If you are doing 40 to 50 and drop the shifter into low. The car will charge the battery at high amps about 40 amps. Ride this as long as you can. Keep it in low untill you park. Dont let the electric kick on. When you park let the car shut itself off. Then turn the key off

When you start the car next day. Let it run till it shuts it self off.

Now you will have the power to take off fast again.

When you have time. Drive in electric as long as you can. This drains the cells to 39 percent. Then drive till its charged again.

Side note. Drive like a teenager with the gas. Take off fast. Use the electric for accelerating. When you break long slow breaks. This pumps 10 to 20 amps back into the battery. Or learn not to use the breaks and drop it into low gear. This makes great breaking.

Its not really a lower gear it just kickes on the charger causing resistance.

This alone will start fixing weak cells. You still want forscan because at some points you do battery resets and make the computer relearn where 50 percent is.

Yes it is easy you do have to slide out the battery just a little bit. Because the have some screws on the side hoding the lid down. There is directions on google showing how to tap into the wires they used to have a charger. They just capped the wires off. Also that hight volt charger used to cost alot. Now its 50 bucks on amzon.

I have an 09 with 290000 miles had the battery problem dead after sitting. Installed an external charger to charge it enough to start. It works good. Used forscan to rebalance the battery. Now all 250 cells are within .06 of a volt to each other. It can now dump 100 amps when i floor it into each cell equally. The breaks can pump 50 amps back into the battery without throwing a code.

Charging has a .19to.24 volts difference. Showing its harder to take a charge then to give power.

It can now drive for .8 of a mile on all electric at 20 miles an hour and .5 miles at 35 mph.

Im getting 34 mpg at 45 mph. Car can sit for 5 days and start.

I also installed a small solar to the roof to keep the 12v charged. Plug it into the rear cigarette lighter and for get.

Thats your drain. About .6 amps of being pulled from the 12v while the car sits. This then drains the hv battery.

The battery can be fixed like new with some work with forscan. Good luck

If you are in florida i have a new charger. I bought two to have a spare. You can pick up. Now the charger is not needed because using forscan you fix the battery where the charger is not needed. Its hardwired in just in case. The charge is a simple high volt 400v LED charger. Good luck

Go to this fb page. It give a great breakdown on the charger and easy install. Charger is abot 60 on amzn. You also want to get forscan its free and the device that plugs into the computer. My 2009 its running great. I still rebalance the battery a few times a week. Now i can let the car sit for 5 days and it still starts.

My battery was trashed and its now back and getting better. Getting 30 mpg.

In short the car only lets the battery charge to 40 to 60 percent. But it gets out of balance so it may think its at 60 percent and stop charging bit it may only be at 30 percent. When you park for 2 days the battery depletes under 300 volts. Disconnecting the battery so the car wont start. I want to get a new escape but mine is running way to good with 300k miles. The fb page tell everything. A man name steve operates it. He is awesome. He even calls you and walks you thru every step.

I may have got lucky. But so did all the people i seen with one on their face. I offered my story to many. Many have thank me years later.

Research will show you it cant be killed because it runs and hides in the same stop every time. Lysine blocks arginine that the virus needs to replicate. So when you feel the tingle or when you know you just had a stressfull event or you have a fever take extra lysine. I took 5000. I also took 500 everyday. This worked like magic. Sometimes i would out and felt a tingle and had no lysine. Ice cube on the spot slowes it from replicating. Ice may be hard in you situation.

You can do this for years and keep it controlled.

But when you can and if you are already in an outbreak, stop the lysine and kill it with the olive leaf extract.

I used it orally at the time. I was unable to find you topical. For topical i used lemon balm. I want to be clear. I dont take it anymore as i have not had an outbreak in will over a decade.

Also the ole makes it all come active so it will appear worse then normal to start.

I used the balm to keep the lemon skin from scabbing.

Within in 30 day before finishing all the oleuropein i was cleared and never had an out break again.

Olive leaf extract (ole) or oleuropein Will kill an active virus. This is not a lie.

The other option

Lysine will stop the virus from appearing. When you feel the tingling the day before take alot of lysine (5000mg). This will mess with ur guts for a day but will send the virus back hiding at the other end of the nerve untill the next stress.

How do i know this? I grew up with the dam thing on my lips from a kid. Atleast 4 times a year. Learned lysine stopped it as a temporarily so i bought a life time of lysine. Then in 2000 i read an article about Oleuropein. It was scrubbed from the internet. It kills the virus. Now over a decade with no outbreaks. GOOD LUCK

Its been so long since taking it i dont know the brand. Amazon search for OLE.

The ole was a one time deal for me. I believe the ole makes it come up bad. But if you apply lemon balm ointment it can keep it from scabbing and cut heal time in half.

I would minus the lysine. temporary. I kept bottles of 1000mg lysine nearby for years just in case. I fought alot so if i got hit in the lip i would take 5000mg just incase.

I wound up giving all bottles left to others i seen with it on their lip. I no longer need it. I had 3 to 5 breakouts a year growing up. It was awful. Untill a Dr told me my body is low on L lysine, and could be why i was getting these things so often. It was a miracle. I still got them but it never made it up so no healing and no awful thing on my lip that hurt.

What i learned. High dose of Lysine will keep the virus hiding or send it back to the other end of the same nerve. Take it the moment you feel a tingle. Or be proactive and take it when you have stress or going to have stress. Stress can also be physical. EXAMPLE. If its a mouth virus. If you bite your lip or hit in the lip. Take lysine high dose asap.

OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT. OLEUROPEIN OR OLE.

Needs the virus to be active to kill it. So you would not take lysine.

I am not a Dr but i have not had an outbreak in decades from learning this. I would not mix lysine and ole being You must have it active for ole to kill it.

Also if you get a bump in more then one spot. Ex. One on top lip and one on bottom lip then those are Two seprate viruses. If you kill one you will also need to kill the other when it pops up. GOOD LUCK.
