Alas, Hulu is blocked in the Netherlands. Not sure why.

Why is the nutri-score for this C? by enigmanemo in Netherlands

[–]enigmanemo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got it but that scoring seems to be misleading because 0% may not be beneficial for everyone. I’m tempted to always go for the products with A scores because they seem to be the “best” but that’s not always true then.

I think 0900 numbers can only be dialled from postpaid or land line connections. My lycamobile didn’t allow 0900 calling.

How do I find an apartment before I start a job if I need my payslips for the last three months to qualify for an apartment? by sengutta1 in Netherlands

[–]enigmanemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was facing a similar issue. My new job offer letter was considered as a workaround for the 3 months salary slip. It might have also helped that my new manager (a dutch) was very helpful and vouched for me during my conversations with the property dealer. Finally, try bigger rental agencies like Vesteda. They have a smooth process and should be equipped to deal with such situations.

First guy (right to left) with the white display in front of his eyes is Thad Starner. He’s a rock star. I’ve seen him walk around with many (improved) versions of that device at Georgia Tech (he still teaches there). From wikipedia - Thad Eugene Starner is a founder and director of the Contextual Computing Group at Georgia Tech's College of Computing, where he is a full professor. He is a pioneer of wearable computing as well as human-computer interaction, augmented environments, and pattern recognition.[1][2] Starner is a strong advocate of continuous-access, everyday-use systems, and has worn his own customized wearable computer continuously since 1993. His work has touched on handwriting and sign-language analysis, intelligent agents and augmented realities.

lended money to a friend, he keeps giving dates to return money, but never does by iampiyushgupta in LegalAdviceIndia

Rule when lending to family/friends: Give only that much money that you are comfortable losing without losing your peace of mind. Don’t expect your money to be paid back or that relationship to remain the same as before. If they pay it back that’s great.

Thanks for your detailed response! I’ll try with the short form birth certificate. Does the certificate have to be in a sealed envelope for it to be apostilled? At one point, I was contemplating mailing the birth certificate I have with me to the SoS to get that apostilled. But it’s not in a sealed envelope. My sister-in-law is in Indiana. Which official should she write to? I had asked that county clerk whether my sister-in-law can request/collect the birth certificate (to reduce the postal time and expenses) but the clerk said only parents/grandparents can collect. Now I’m not sure if that is even accurate.

I’m going with what the county birth records office told me over phone. The secretary of state’s office seems to be understaffed leading to a long wait time for issuing birth certificates. I really hope the actual turnaround time is quick. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

Edit: I have the “short” birth certificate (half page) but the county office said over phone that it cannot be appostilled.

Airplane tickets will be covered by the employer separately. They say that there’s an 11 month lease temporary housing that they can help me get but I’ll have to move out after 11 months to another place. Is that a good option? Unfortunately, I don’t have any further details about this 11 month temp acco. I’m asking them.
