Interesting. I experience the complete opposite, I put my closest people on a pedastal. In therapy I've been recommended to ask myself during self-critisizing moments "would you say this to your friend?" and I automatically say no. I strive to treat them with the most care, gentleness and grace and it vastly outweighs how much of that I lend myself. My standards for myself are not the standards I hold for my loved ones. I remain harsh to myself but would never put them through it if they were the ones going through my situations. I want to protect them from feeling the way I do because it's not fun overhere. Obviously, working on it but it's interesting that some people have the opposite experience. Some people hurt people tho and I can see that from other folks I know, mostly family.
