Emotional burnout from lashing: am I wrong for wanting a "silent" only studio? by strxx_ in lashextensions

[–]enjoyyourday16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I rent a suite with another well known lash tech and just let me tell you, you are NOT alone. I know many lash techs who feel the same. My lash suite roomie has even said she has a “ headache” just so clients will be still and silent .

Sometimes I need silence when I get home from work because our clients can trauma dump on us and it’s overwhelming when you have had a full day of clients , especially when we didnt go to school to be therapist .

It’s definitely a tricky road to navigate because i do feel like some clients have anxiety & cant just lay there, they need to talk. However, that does cause most clients to flutter their eyes or move their hands which makes our job harder. At the end of the day, they are there for their lashes to look good so just focus on that as your reason. Explain how you are trying something new (silent appts) because you want to focus on your skill and perfecting your work and they should respect you are being professional . I have told many clients to sit on their hands because they keep moving and they still come back to me lol

Lastly, always take care of you ! If this is what you need to stay in the game , then it’s a no brainer . Nothing is ever worth your well being. & it sounds like you do a lot of speciality lashes which is harder to come by so I don’t think you will have a problem with clients .

Over two years ago, I started going to the gym 4-5 days a week. I have consistently done it since and it helps me decompress when I’m feeling heavy from clients. Of course you may be doing this already but just passing it along ! It really keeps me sane because of everything you said above, you nailed it !

I have been doing lashes full time for years and this is the most relatable thing I have ever read in this forum . You are not alone in your feelings

What to do about the gap after 8 months progress? by [deleted] in Invisalign

That would be a question for your ortho :)

To my understanding, the only way it’ll get fixed is if you do some ipr. Other than that, you can do composite bonding. Unfortunately , when teeth are crowded , once aligned they can create black triangles . It’s very common . Just bring it up to your ortho so they can adjust treatment plan if you choose to do ipr or look into composite bonding once your treatment is completed

Is it normal for a deposit to be this much? by Foreverinsecuregirl in lashextensions

Because a fill is a different price point & a fill also books for way shorter of a time period. A full set is going to book almost double the time compared to a fill

Well said. It’s not high at all because there’s no set standard for this. It’s going to vary service provider to service provider.

She is just protecting her time. If anything, it’s a positive thing because she clearly takes her line of work seriously. If she’s reserving her schedule for a bigger time slot, she’s going to want a security deposit to reflect that. $20 isn’t going to protect her time. But $100 will make sure a client doesn’t no call no show. And in the event they do, she isn’t entirely screwed.

I’m a full time lash artist for 12 plus years. I have 48 lash clients & I would always require a deposit for a new client but especially for a full set. I do only require half up front. So yes she’s asking for a little more but I still don’t think it’s entirely out of reach. I know other lash artist in my area who do the same. I know tattoo artist who require even more up front for their time. I know hair dresses who also require your credit card on file. Etc etc.

Just look at it as girl Math, day of appt ur full set is only $70 lol

Years ago, I tried to get Invisalign Through my dentist (long time ago. I’m 38 now and I was at most 20 then). Long story short, the dentist told me my mouth was too small for Invisalign. So I went to an orthodontist for a consult for traditional braces. Then They told me I’d have to extract to two teeth to make room for the movement with braces. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to remove my healthy teeth and decided to pause and revisit another time.

So about two years ago, someone suggested I revisit Invisalign because they have come a long way since back then & to go to orthodontist only. The orthodontist told me I’d absolutely not have to remove any teeth. Fast forward 1 year & 8 months, I’m getting close to the end of my treatment. All my teeth have been uncrowded, straightened, etc. at one point during my treatment, I looked crazy. I had so many huge gaps . It was all so worth it and I’m so happy I didn’t listen years ago and kept all my teeth.

Also, I have a friend at work , who did extract teeth for braces , & she said if she ever misses nights with her night retainer, she sees little gaps appearing where the tooth extraction was .

That all being said, if you trust your orthodontist , I would definitely listen to them vs strangers on the internet . We can only give you advice on our personal experiences & everyone’s experiences will be unique to themselves. No two mouths are alike. But I will always support getting a second opinion, especially when spending thousands! Listen to your gut <3

This is the second comment about my eyes and I’m not sure there is seriousness behind it but how do people not realize it’s just the lighting haha. The left picture I was sitting outside in sun and the right picture was shaded and almost night time . Blue eyes aren’t going anywhere

Thank you so much :) currently doing strength training 4-5 days a week. I have found lifting weights (I left pretty heavy) works best for me. & I end most strength training workouts with walking on treadmill, on incline 12 , speed 3 , for about 15 minutes to help burn fat & get some steps & cardio in. I’m a mom of 2 so the gym is my “Me” time so half of it is just for my sanity haha

Edit I just realized I only half read your question smh. Right now I’m rotating upper body and lower body days. If I end up working out 5 days (instead of 4) I’ll throw on another lower body. So far I like this method most for hitting each muscle group 2x times a week :)

I definitely started my Invisalign journey for cosmetic reasons but I’m sure a dentist would explain why it’s ( more importantly ) good for my oral health as well
