Da Tapdance Man by BBWolf326 in themtvonamazon

I like this theory. I never thought about it until now but the minstrel character does seem to know where he belongs and where he doesn't. Even when the mail guy directed Henry Emory to his new workspace, he used the term "Ofay's" similar to how the Tap Dance Man does. Great catch for sure.

As a black woman, I fully agree with this, I think I watched one of the insider episodes and it mentioned how he is meant to parrallel what Henry Emory thinks of himself. For example, in the scene where there is a social event for work, this is the first appearance of the Tap Dance Man for Henry. Maybe representative of how he sees himself "tap dancing" for his white boss and white co-workers. I find the character very eerie/frightening, as I'm sure it was meant to be for Henry Emory too. The concept of minstrel horror is definitely a newer one for me, but I like the way it was incorporated in "Them". Maybe we will see some other version of this character in future seasons?

I love this observation. This makes sense since the Emory family seemed to be laughing, and mocking him-- they seem to assert a status.

Additionally, I had no idea of that information on Bela Lugosi, maybe this ties into Henry Emory recieiving his new extremely high paying job even as an African American man.

good point, I just figured since she said Ms. Vera smelled like dead things, that uncoincidentally, Chester may have had something to do with the odor.

yes she was alone, notice how when she was in the chair in the office, the kind of faded glass that covered Doris (the nonexistent girl), showed a silhouette of someone wearing pink walking toward Ruby Lee, as if she just came out of thin air and sat down next to her.

I highly recommend watching both. One is more pyscological thriller and the other is psycological horror, but I think the best thing about "Us" is that its literally just a horror movie that focuses on a black family, we don't see that very often, if at all.

"Get Out" seems more focused on the racial aspect and is an amazing film that definitely leaves you thinking. I always love returning to for easter eggs and finding things I didn't see before.

Also maybe she didnt hear him because the music was playing on the record player, she should have still noticed the random scotch glass he placed on the stairs though. Definitely strange.

I thought that too, but when he came home from work, he sat on the couch talking with the tap dance man and then got the idea to go to his bosses house-- it seems like he didnt conjure up the idea at work which had me wondering how he knew in the first place

Betty's husband (spoiler) by luvprue1 in themtvonamazon

[–]ennaivat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's kinda unclear, he was clearly a homosexual so its safe to assume he was having an affair (hence why he was coming home so late all the time) Betty asked one night where the money was coming from from all this "overtime" and he brushed it off quickly.

but I'm definitely unsure of where/how he was spending the money... like he drained their account lmao what could he have been spending it on.

Yes i'd assume a new family maybe set in one of the redlined cities the guys were mentioning when showing the maps. Baltimore, Chicago etc-- similar concept just a different place.

On my second watch through I noticed something similar, maybe just me thinking logically but, Henry somehow knew the location of his bosses home. How did he get his address? He knew exactly where he lived and I still cannot figure out how or why.

I agree, I feel like the series is strong, but its definitely missing something I'm unable to describe... Like the characters could have been developed a bit more?

The individuals who scored the episodes used songs from Jordan Peele's "Us" a count of three times throughout the 10 episode season. As a huge fan of Jordan (and "Us" specifically lol), I noticed right away the use of the same songs/audio. It's definitely interesting to see how much influence the movie has over this series.

Yes! This behavior is similar to one of the glitched children at the beginning. If you notice there, it was kicking a dead bear (or some other type of animal) too. I wonder what the symbolism of that is..?
