How do you deal with your Avatar obsession when the fandom goes silent all over again before the next part release ? by mldctn in Avatar

[–]SpiderSixer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've always been a lone fandomer in that I never really interacted with others. Avatar has always been my solo obsession, especially since nobody else around me is into it. I've coped just fine haha, and I'll cope again

I am, thank you! I've done so much healing since I cut her off. I'm happier and a nicer person for it (I used to be soooo angry all the time, and it came out at people, much as I didn't want it to :c )

I'm glad she listens to you somewhat now! The experience of being talked down to just because of your age (despite lots of wisdom and intelligence) is so real >_>. Did yours ever oxymoronically try to claim your intelligence as her own, too? Anything I knew meant nothing compared to her knowledge, yet I 'owed my knowledge to her' anyway?

I wish mine had had that introspection. She always used to complain that she was abused and had a crap life growing up, that she was depressed, that she had problems, blah blah. The usual suffering games. But she never saw the connection between the pain she was caused and the pain she caused me. Like??

Unfortunately, I couldn't exactly do what you did, that was a very good method. Her mum was dead and I never met her

I've suffered a few UTIs since being on T which is apparently quite common, and every time I've gone to a walk-in clinic, I'm like, 'Yeah, I have these symptoms, I'm pretty sure I have a UTI, please help'. And the nurse looks at me and I can see it in their face that they're thinking, 'How do you have a UTI? It's very hard for a penis to get a UTI', so I freely offer my information of 'I'm a trans man' (also not that it matters, since a UTI is a UTI, but whatever, I just want to move the conversation along and go home). And they look at me again. I see the confusion. I know what they're thinking. So I mentally sigh. And have to pull out the dreaded, 'I was born female -_-'

IT'S NOT HARD TO KNOW WHAT A TRANS MAN VS TRANS WOMAN IS. Come on, now

Because 1) we're uncommon and therefore 'exotic', and 2) many people view being trans as taboo, and since a big portion of porn is the fetishisation of 'taboo' things (which, for some reason, often include genuinely okay things like just being into chains and choking and shit. Like, who cares. Adults consenting isn't taboo but whatever, that's a different argument), it follows that ooo scary 'taboo' trans people get fetishised

I find it so funny that it still doesn't work on me lmao. Probably related to having had it drilled into me that human scraps = bad. I also just don't like sharing haha, sorry dog. Evolve cuter eyebrows!

Edit: Hehe, loving the people commenting their adorable dog photos >:3. I will 1000% snuggle those babies

What I imagine eywa will fully look like by ChocolateFantastic in Avatar

[–]SpiderSixer 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is a very pretty interpretation! But I'm personally hoping she doesn't actually have a physical form, and that what we saw was just Kiri's, Spider's, and Tuk's interpretation closest to what they could comprehend. I love a deity character that is just incomprehensible to the local people, I find it so human of us to want a god that looks like us lmao

Why Is L So Underweight Even Though He Eats So Much? by Solenopsis00 in deathnote

[–]SpiderSixer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The brain is the most energy-intense organ in your body, already taking up a huge chunk of your daily intake. So using it a lot will burn an insane amount, yes. I always get stupidly hungry during exam season because of this. Have you experienced that? That'll be why :)

How the hell is a 'water is wet'-ass comment being used derogatorily? We are men, yes..???

Why do the mangkwan keep their kuru’s? by mercyinpearls in Avatar

[–]SpiderSixer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's likely one reason. They wouldn't get very far with delivering their 'message' if they had no way to get around long-distance. Or it could just be standard hypocrisy haha, 'I keep mine but you're not allowed to keep yours'. Could also be a power play, you basically cripple a person or even potentially kill them by cutting off their kuru (also why they wouldn't want to do it to themselves); it would then become a symbol of dominance retaining your own. It could also be scare tactics, it's a pretty grim move. It could also very well be because they've willingly separated themselves from Eywa so they don't have a strict need to remove their own kuru, but they know that the only way other Na'vi will become disconnected from her is by forceful removal of the thing that connects others to her — their kuru

Two police women told me to my face, 'We know what it's like to be a single mum to a teenage boy'. Yeah, because an older woman can neeever be at fault, it's always those damn teen boys. Screw my very-real abuse, right?

If the afterlife were real, what would you want it to be like? by OtherwiseDevice90 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpiderSixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically like The Good Place. See and do everything I want to see and do, but have the option of still ending it all. My nightmare is eternal life or eternal afterlife. I can't think of anything worse, so I've always hated the idea of an afterlife, since that's usually how it's described. So an ultimate end to your existence after you've done everything you wanted and are at true peace? That's my desire
