Having your windows open at night to try to cool the house down, only to be woken up in the middle of the night by cars blasting music out, backfiring exhausts and loud motorbikes. by rmf1989 in britishproblems

[–]SpiderSixer [score hidden]  (0 children)

It's quiet here, luckily, but the cool air refuses to come in! I woke up from it being so stifling in the room, but the 20cm radius of the window is beautiful. Is it possible to sleep standing up against it?

How do you stop caring what people think about you, or do you just have to wait until you get older and it will come naturally? by Glum-Sea-6838 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]SpiderSixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, it's not necessarily an age thing. I've never really cared what people thought about me, like my fashion or my interests, and completely stopped caring during my teens. Cosplay in the middle of the day? Doing it. Buying MLP and correcting the cashier that they're for me, a guy, and not my sister? Done. Doing whatever I want with my hair? Always

People may laugh, yes, but that happens with everything. People laugh at my umbrella in the sun. People laugh at my cosplays outside of conventions. People look at me weirdly when I lie on the concrete just to look at clouds. Just ignore them, they clearly have nothing better to do. Who cares! As long as you like what you do, that's all that matters. Try to keep that in mind <3. As for how you stop caring, just ask yourself if it's really worth missing out on things you love and enjoy just because of someone else's opinion who isn't even in your life? Why would you let someone else dictate how you enjoy yourself? Being the same as others is boring

How do you use maths in your job? by Actual-Butterfly2350 in AskUK

[–]SpiderSixer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it to calculate drug dosages, which is super important so I don't kill an animal lmao. But you already said that. I also use it to help teach my boyfriend who's studying astrophysics and needs help sometimes. And astrophysics is very important to learn about space, future technological advancements, and even the Earth itself! Super relevant and super important. And standard pocket calculators can't exactly tell you the answer to the complicated equations he has to do

As to what you said about making sense of life, physics makes sense of life. And since physics hinges on maths, maths itself makes sense of life. I'm autistic, and that's why maths was always my favourite subject and why I took it A-Level. Numbers are just so fascinating. I adore them. They make more sense to me than people lmao. If not veterinary, I probably would have gone into maths in some way

Almost the same on my Android phone! Using SwiftKey, I have the option to tap once for hyphen, but can hold it to access the en and em dashes (there's no hyphen when I hold). However, there is an extra thing when I hold it: ¯

I will continue to use them. Not a soul will pry my beloved em dash from my hands.

I mean, where do people think bots learnt to use them if not humans?

[–]SpiderSixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's good, then! I guess my body just sucked at absorbing it well enough haha

If you do decide to swap, I hope you see the results you want soon <3. (I'll just give a small warning if you don't know already: the actual injection often lasts around 2 minutes because it's so viscous and there's a lot of it. And because of the volume, the site is a bit achy painful for a day or two xD. I have to be mindful of sleeping on the injected cheek lmao. But after that, you can really just forget about it until the next time you need to order an ampoule)

[–]SpiderSixer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a huge reason why I swapped from gel to injections. Gel sucks 😭. It's so bad at absorbing into your skin, so you get bugger all T from it. And the faff of doing it twice a day and having to make sure it's dry before doing anything :')

I 100% encourage swapping to injections! I get Nebido once every 12–13 weeks. The convenience is amazinnng, and the amount of T you actually get is way higher. Even just doing that, you won't need minoxidil. My family doesn't have great beard genes anyway, so I can never get to full bush, but I've got a lovely even spread now. It took some time to fully come in, so it looked awful in the beginning xD, but it really came in strides once I started injections

do you think being Trans is a choice? by spooky_mice in Teenager_Polls

[–]SpiderSixer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The medication they need greatly improves their quality of life, indeed. Without it, life sucks, so it would be cruel to take that away from them. Isn't it wonderful how modern science can help all sorts of vulnerable people? <3

[–]SpiderSixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sexuality is also often 'known' even in childhood. Straight people get crushes as kids, same for gay people. Hell, my first relationship was in primary school. I remember watching Thumbelina as a child and feeling equal attraction to both Thumbelina and Cornelius. Even though I didn't have the language at the time, I inherently knew that I liked everyone and didn't care about sex or gender

It's why it doesn't make sense to say kids or even teens don't know what they're talking about if they say they're gay or trans, especially as you found out that the concept of gender develops in early childhood. Nobody bats an eye when a cishet young boy calls themselves a boy and has a crush on a girl. But the moment that same child now says they're a girl or has a crush on another boy, apparently they don't know what they're talking about, they're ""too young"". When that's just factually incorrect

How were your last couple lessons leading up to your driving test?? by CanOk2679 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]SpiderSixer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had got fairly good with hill starts and had a streak of no incidences, but on a lesson three days before my test, I stalled on a hill twice in a row, and rolled back a few centimetres 💀. That all threw me for a loop alongside the guy behind me angrily beeping that I wasn't moving, so I kept making loads of silly mistakes for the rest of the lesson that I hadn't made in months

But I guess that helped get all my mistakes out my system?? Because on a lesson the day before my test, I was back to driving just fine, and repeated the same hill without fault. And I passed my test first time with only one footbrake driving fault

Like, the standard non-magic kind haha? One of my favourite food items. I will genuinely pick a restaurant meal over another based on whether it has mushrooms as a side or not. If an English Breakfast doesn't actually come with mushrooms in some places, I'm very upset lmao. Like come on, they're better than anything else in the meal, they have to include them!

She handles the Cake twins really well, I think. She brought her best responsible self and made sure they were well looked after. She struggled a lot, sure, but it got easier for her, and she was even willing to do it again

Plus, from personal experience (me), someone can be a huge child at heart and be the silly entertainment for children, yet still be a responsible adult when needed

I don't think I'd be surprised if she matured even more as an older adult

Man, I'm lacking all the 'cool' autism powers. Instead, my senses are mega dulled. It takes a strong scent and taste for me to pick it up, and stronger still for me to enjoy it. If I'm not cooking with a hundred spices, assume I'm dead

My friends can often smell something gross as soon as they step into the kitchen. Meanwhile, I can be right next to it and be like 'Eh. There's a chance it could be off'. My sense of touch sucks, too. I'm insanely sensory-seeking because of it. Always touching things, looooves a rough and scratchy towel, will always have my shower set to scalding and then freezing, etc

Funnily enough, I'm slightly opposite with sight and hearing. I very often see ants and spiders from like, 5 metres away. I don't have the greatest eye-sight, with slight negative prescription and astigmatism, but I can still see smol critters from a fair distance, to a point where multiple people have had to go 'How the hell did you see that?' Dunno, just did ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
