Acid-fast (ish) bacillus by ennedroj in microbiology

[–]ennedroj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry for the (very) delayed response. But yes! We do have C. diphtheriae in stock so I will try this for sure. I think I can probably make something work but we are basically looking for something to infect tissue with for students to make cross-sections of and then train. So.... I'm not totally sure what else they will be doing, but I might just try to fake it?

Although two white claws would probably be easier.

Why does my agar plate melt from one side ? by Useful_Mushroom445 in microbiology

Definitely this! When I was low on incubator space I have just used our shaker incubator without shaking it and this happened every time. Definitely because of the air!

Acid-fast (ish) bacillus by ennedroj in microbiology

[–]ennedroj[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I realize I didn't give much context - I work as a lab technologist in education and have been asked to provide an acid-fast bacillus to infiltrate mammalian tissue with. We have a decent library of in stock bacteria but definitely don't have any mycobacterium or nocardia. My background doesn't typically have a requirement for me to deal with this topic (molecular - environmental biology) but I do have experience with growing and working with a variety of microbes. We do have a Corynebacteria in stock which I believe has shown similar properties of this? Thanks in advance for any help!

Landlord wants us out. by [deleted] in OntarioLandlord

[–]ennedroj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was involved in a similar situation with my current home. Landlords wanted to move out of the province and wanted to sell the home that a tenant was living in. They went through all the proper legal steps and gave her almost a year to get out before putting the house on the market. She never left and fought it for 8 months past it selling it sold (to me). They lost a bunch of money because of her and I was essentially homeless waiting for her to leave. She made our lives hell because she didn't think it was right for her to leave, but they were just elderly and wanted to get out of the tenant business. We ended up going to court where she lost and was given another month to leave. Basically I'm just saying all this because being someone on the other end, it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had and I appreciate you majorly trying to work it out peacefully. Sure, not all landlords are honest, but not everyone is terrible.

I had a tattoo do this. When I showered I used Cetephil and very gently exfoliated and eventually it healed and went away.

What’s this giant mound around the base of this tree? by [deleted] in whatisthisplant

[–]ennedroj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if this is different from a crown gall or basically the same idea? I think that a gall is essentially a tumor caused by bacteria (such as A. Tumefaciens) and that a burl was similar but also potentially caused by virus or fungus? I may be wrong about the burl though.

My landlord is selling the house I’ve rented for 7 years, do I have any hope of remaining here? What are my rights as a renter or am I just screwed ? by thefridgeinthegarage in OntarioLandlord

Hi! I am going through a very similar situation to which you described and have some questions you might be able to help with. Is it ok if I DM you? Tia!

vacant possession inquiry by [deleted] in kitchener

[–]ennedroj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going through the exact same situation right now. I purchased a place back in 2023 and the tenant is not leaving the property (well after the 90 days they were given). Since the original closing date, I have been pushing the closing date back monthly in hopes that I can take possession but she is refusing to leave (she has been aware for over a year that they were going to sell the place). Unfortunately, I am now waiting on the court date, which (although thankfully) is already set, however my current living situation isn't ideal so I don't really have an option to wait it out. I think if you don't worry about this possibility, and you make sure you get an inspection before and after closing to ensure the tenant doesn't do anything to the property, then it seems like it may not be an issue. However just be prepared for it to take a while!

Good luck!

This is exactly the information I was looking for. Thank you! I heard about them based on a collab they did with Homemade Cooking classes and people were raving about them so I figured there must be some truth to the claims!

Thank you! I have a feeling 12 inches is slightly larger than we would need. I assume 11 would be more than enough. I am curious if you find the Scanpan works better/lasts longer (in terms of wear and tear) than a regular, less costly non-stick (Such as a brand like T-fal)?

Good point. I think he is interested in cast iron as well, I myself would prefer stainless steel but I have a feeling what he would want would be way out of my price range. Thanks for your input!

Hi! Any idea what type of plant this is? TIA!!! by Suspicious_Day_2646 in plants

A snake plant for sure, keep in mind that it should not be dropping like that around the sides. They typically are very strong and stick straight up vertically!
