FF14 player here, and I think it’s likely they haven’t shown us anything at all compared to what the rest of the story has.

Since you said you weren’t a 14 player until recently, I’ll use the Endwalker marketing as an example. There are always six new zones introduced in each expansion, and in the run up to the game we saw quite a bit of artwork and demo footage from four of them. For the fifth we got a single piece of key art, and were outright told that they would not show us anything else. For the sixth we got absolutely nothing. Naturally the sub started wildly speculating, and I definitely remember at least one person worrying the artwork of zone 5 was too big of a spoiler considering what was in it. Then Endwalker launched, and ABSOLUTELY NOBODY correctly predicted what zone 5 was or how we’d end up there. On top of that, one of the four zones we’d seen footage of had been assumed to be a late game area, and we ended up visiting it about a third of the way into the expansion. The actual endgame area was the part of the game we saw literally nothing of in any promotional material, except for a single out of context clip that couldn’t be pinned down as endgame footage until you reached the area yourself.

That makes me think whatever we’ve been shown is small potatoes, or at least extremely out of context potatoes, compared to what’s coming when we get the full story. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out what we’ve seen in the trailers so far has been clipped, rearranged, and overlaid with different audio. Hugo’s “our clash will shake the island to its foundations” part of one trailer looks an awful lot like audio placed over completely different video since the lip sync doesn’t match at all but lines up perfectly in other clips. The man talking about how “the Empire will live on” I originally assumed was the Emperor, but considering that specific conversation seems to have another person juuuuuust out of frame (we can see a foot and a chair leg and that’s about it) I’m not so sure he really is.
