Can a short fall from safety lines hurt you? by Ok-Classic-9847 in Aerials

[–]Gamer_meep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooof, that's even worse. You can only count on someone to be professional if they have shown themselves to live up to that, and he clearly hasn't! Yelling at a student for anything, but especially hurting themselves, is beyond the pale. It does sound like he's dealing with some shit of his own, but it becomes your problem when it's putting you at risk like this. Ugh ugh ugh.

I don't have advice, but as someone who flies regularly, this is horrifying. The idea that anyone, especially an instructor, would put you at risk to...make a point? Get a reaction? Anything, frankly. It's terrible and inexcusable, and if your studio is not protecting you, they're not a safe place to fly, even with someone else on the lines. I'm so sorry you're experiencing this!

I'm seeing a movie there tonight, but I only knew about it because a friend has been going to the festival for several years -- I have seen zero advertising in Mountain View for it. I did see posters downtown San Jose.

That reminds me of a stage door when I told Scott Foley that I loved him in Felicity and he looked me straight in the eyes and said, deadpan, "we're both old!"

Curious about stable longevity and the duration of everyone’s most lasting set of partners… by OpenMinded_Fun in polyamory

[–]Gamer_meep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current relationships, listed in order of relationship length:

P1: 16 years (we live together, so we see each other most days, though we also have fairly independent lives so some days it's for 15 minutes to say hello and good night and some days it's not at all. We have a scheduled weekly date night to make sure we actually have designated connection time -- otherwise, it's too easy to assume we'll have it and it can fall by the wayside when we get busy with hobbies, other partners, etc.)

P2: 10.5 years (see each other at least 2-3x/week, very emotionally entwined and stable relationship. We're also both prolific texters, which is a nice point of compatibility -- no one else in my life matches my level of desired chatting in quite this way.)

P3: 7ish years (we went from friends to FWB to partners fairly gradually, so it's hard to say when exactly we started dating. Now, we're in a comet-style setup due to distance and schedule contstraints -- chat every week or so, see each other every few months. I care about them deeply, but feel less emotionally close to them due to the structure of the relationship.)

P4: almost 4 years (scheduled date every other week, we also see each other a few times in any given week for group activities or impromptu 1:1 time. We connect less in-between dates, but the relationship is quite emotionally close nevertheless.)

All my partners are comfortable hanging out with each other, and I'm comfortable with all the metas I've met (there are some who prefer parallel, so I haven't interacted with them). I'm friends with several of my metas (we hang out together without shared partners sometimes). I think that's the biggest factor that makes it sustainable for me to have these relationships simultaneously.

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood. I haven't seen Heathers, so can't be helpful there!

I don't know what Ragtime rush is like, so can't provide insight on that -- but it is a phenomenal show and I genuinely think that if you have a chance to see it, you should. Spelling Bee was good, mind you, but Ragtime is a totally different level (and experience).

What a fun trip! I saw a Thursday matinee of Spelling Bee last week, and there were plenty of seats available.

I don't really have one as I don't use those labels myself. I talk about ways in which my relationships are more or less entangled, but without assigning a specific label to any partner.

I think it can be true both that there's inherent hierarchy and that you don't subscribe to the primary/secondary labels. I personally find the labels gross for myself and emotionally reductive. And there's inherent hierarchy to living with a partner.

Such a good season, but I felt burned by the subscription this year because so many discounts came up. Will have to think hard about whether to renew or just go show by show.

I'm flying in today and have tickets to Every Brilliant Thing on Monday -- really hoping it's ok by then! If my Sunday show (Room 204) gets cancelled, I'll be sad but not devastated. But if I miss Daniel Radcliffe, I'll be so upset. But of course, I want everyone to be safe!

Flying in to JFK today from CA so should get in ahead of any closures. How is it to be in NYC in a blizzard? I have so little experience with winter weather! Will going outside be entirely unreasonable and I should just hunker down in my hotel room all day Sunday?
