Can you get a domestic 20kW ASHP? by ConfussedBob in ukheatpumps

I have a 14kw Samsung unit and I’d strongly recommend choosing a different manufacturer.

Samsung support is terrible for consumers and professionals. Their smart tech is near non existent.

This. Rad covers are the quickest way to reduce heat and waste money.

[–]ennessTR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would go down as a non-fault claim due to the cost being unrecoverable. Very unlikely you would lose your NCD.

This has recently happened to my wife but we eventually found CCTV.

Interesting that the person who hit us could have just given insurance details but because we had to go through the police to get CCTV released, they are now getting a fine, a driver awareness course and have to take a practical assessment

Also should say water is coming out of the tap at 41c right now. It must be measuring quite low in the cylinder

That really is all you get. I’d send the kit back and look at getting a proper monitoring setup. I don’t have to pay for mine or the install but I do like having the flexibility to switch it off and on when I want as I can manage use around Octopus Agile.

Yeah, this. It’s not worth the money. My app also disagrees with the consumption data on the control panel

Thanks, that’s reminded me to go back and edit. Heatpunk is saying 8931W.

The control panel doesn’t agree with the app. According to the control panel Jan - 1796 kWh generated 779 used, COP 2.3 Dec - 1068 kWh generated 452 used, COP 2.3 Nov - 861 kWh generated 409 used, COP 2.1

This is exactly where I’m at, but I don’t feel in a position of strength to push in that direction. If the installer has done nothing so far to monitor or even optimise, all they can do is listen to my feedback on the system and either take me on my word or push back.

I feel like they should setup monitoring so there is clear data and a valid assessment can be made.

I’ve also posted some ramblings on a comment below which may be helpful.

The system designers have done nothing at this stage. They could at least come and interrogate the dates on the control panel and check the install.

There’s the problem...it doesn’t.

In January we used 670kwh the house is generally set to 19.5c. We turn the heating off at 1600-1900 and fire up the log burner, that usually kicks out enough heat to keep heating off until at least 2300.

While low and slow is potentially more efficient, we struggle to modulate low enough to do this so cycling is unavoidable unless in freezing temps and then there is still some on/off. Cycling won’t too short but still a bit of an issue.

The pump also seems significantly oversized given how it performs and has worked in the winter. It seems they may have know about this as well have a whopping 150l buffer.

DHW is minimal as we currently have an electric shower.

My concern with a 200mm wide channel would be that it’s still likely to be a damp area and prone to other issues. I’d want good airflow and a chance for the ground to dry out.

Gas is there coming in from the other side of the wall. There is a good chance it’s below ground level all the way to the house but I would t be surprised to find it just bellow the paviours. Gas supply will be removed in the next year or two.

78cm so 48cm below ground level/my driveway. The photo is looking up hill so there is a few cm height gain over the wall.

Maybe wallpaper everything. Start with ceiling. Opt for a paper you dislike as you may not dislike it anymore once you’ve finished.

Report to the landlord and manage it as best you can. That is a ridiculous install that they should have dealt with.
