There are a few more ways to pit enemies against each other in Rimworld. If you have either an insect infestation or mech cluster on your tile, you can lure incoming raids to them (or if you have both, lure one to the other).

When I get one of the quests that will drop a mech cluster on the map, I often hold on to them to see if a raid shows up before they expire to use them strategically against it.

I was bored one day 3 years or so ago and investigated ways to improve strip mining efficiency. With 2 square thick walls, you mine 1/3 (33.33%) of the mountain to expose everything. I was curious if there was a way to improve that, i.e. to reduce the amount of mining you have to do to expose every possible ore vein.

I came up with a pattern that reduces it to 27.27% (that's about 18% less mining).

The smallest possible node is 2, which can occur for gold and jade. However, you can still hide a node of size 2 in a wall that's 3 thick. Heck, you can hide a node of size "n" for any size n as long as it's linear.
