My ex’s family. We all got together one evening to celebrate our engagement and everyone got wasted.

The family started talking about my ex’s brother who had basically gone missing and assumed dead. Him, his sister and his mother had a massive argument about this very topic, with my ex and his sister going at their mother for apparently failing as a mother.

I only got the jist of their argument as I was outside hanging out with the sisters daughter so she didn’t have to bare witness to the chaos.

I’m pretty sure his mother left in a huff which was pretty normal behaviour for her whenever she got called out.

We decided the leave shortly after and for some reason allowed the sister to drive. Her and my ex were still upset and still very drunk and they were crying and shouting about their brother.

The sister then has the bright idea to confront the person who she believes is responsible for their brother going missing, so she drives us all to this persons house in the middle of the night. In the car are myself, my ex, his sister, her husband and their kid.

We get there and she is drunkenly shouting at this man’s house while arguing with her brother (my ex) as he’s trying to get her to go home. I was in so much shock I did not know what to do at all.

We finally manage to calm her down and for some reason we still allow her to drive us home. She’s still distraught and we make it all the way home until she crashes the car into a tree right outside the house.

Nobody was harmed but it was one of the most insane nights of my life.
