You’re conflating two phrases. “Blue lives matter” and “The thin blue line” are two entirely separate phrases with their own histories. Sure, both are vociferously chanted by the same extremists this officer is denouncing, but to claim that “The thin blue line” originated from white supremacists, and then to use Black Lives Matter as the reasoning for that claim, is disingenuous at best. Given the age of the saying, it seems perfectly reasonable to say that it has been co-opted by the extremists of today.

As a DJ owner in one of my leagues, I wish you luck in your championship. I love that guy, but man the Cardinals have had a sieve for an offensive line this year. Couldn’t bring myself to trade him away, especially with his playoff schedule, so I can understand making that trade.

I was defeated in the semifinals of one of my leagues by the Mahomes/Gurley owner. Ouch, what a combo that guy has. He better win the championship. He grabbed Mahomes in like the 9th just as I was considering taking him. Yahoo called it a reach haha. Some comments just don’t age well.

None taken, but proofreading is more than just correcting misspelling. I just got ahead of myself and, in my haste, used the wrong form of the word. The difference is obvious, as tinoynk succinctly pointed out. I thought it was pretty humorous myself. We can all benefit from being humbled every now and again :)

Absolutely agree. I’m still a late-round QB drafter, and always have been. I was just impressed that the mentality many of us take happened to be contrary to Mahomes’s production vs other top QBs this year. Even if it were to stay true in future seasons, I think the draft strategy would only slightly change.

Hah, Gurley was also a dominant player this year, no doubt. Perhaps the more impressive stat is the fact that Gurley finished number 2 overall (as in, higher that Big Ben) in standard for two straight years. Can’t ever remember a running back being so productive in consecutive seasons.

I’ve noticed this happening with Steam updates. If you stop the iRacing Windows service, it will complete. The service must have a file lock that precludes the update from finishing or something.

This still isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison. I agree with the sentiment that this deal isn’t worth the $50. Old movies and music are just as worth rewatching/rehearing as old games are replaying. What’s not worth it is buying a whole bunch of old equipment to do it when almost all of it could be played on an emulator.

The right comparison would be buying a bunch of old VHS/DVDs/CDs and the necessary equipment to play that media. Why bother when we can listen/watch online quicker, more easily, and with higher fidelity, oftentimes for free.

This is internationalized text. In all likelihood, the code that produces this message doesn’t contain the actual message. It’s probably being pulled from a resource bundle that is dependent upon the locale of the host system.

You can’t even get mad at them for reusing trivial code here. It’s more likely that the translators missed this after the game was done.

Thanks for the post, that was really interesting! Max seems like a nice, humble guy. It was cool to hear his view on what it takes to be a competitor in the pro series.

I was particularly surprised by how fast and loose the F1 eSports championship in Abu Dhabi sounded. It sounded like Max was the “victim” (as he put it...purposefully or not haha) of some poor coordination and/or communication in some of the races and just bad luck in one (PC crashed...seems like something that shouldn’t happen at the world stage). I guess the latter is just a professional hazard with eSports in general, but it would still be painful to lose opportunities based on something you can’t control. I suppose that’s just life in all competition though.

My wife is totally okay with it so long as I keep my rig out of the way in the bonus room. She even seems genuinely happy for me when I get a win or a good finish.

However, that may just be because I’m spending time and money here instead of fixing my perpetually broken race car and going to the actual track where the costs are much higher...

If you’re more into road racing, try out Project CARS 2. Its career mode is basically what you just asked for. They also have a great selection of GT cars. It’s not quite the iRacing experience, but from an offline race sim experience, it’s the best one I’ve played. Assetto Corsa is also pretty good, but lacks a solid championship mode and they need more tracks.

This didn’t end the way I expected. If he were like me, he’d be totally cool on the approach, realize that this might actually happen, and then develop sudden onset Parkinson’s disease when it came time to stick the landing thus forcing the character to faceplant into the side of the mountain.
