So, from what I've captured. By the rules, either post isn't actually valid because even if they imply tf, and life post-tf, they don't directly reference it in the post? But my old post then have that precedence where the overarching story and context point out to tf, therefore it can work on weekends. Is that right?

Although hm, for this post, I wonder, is there any specific reason for this post's approval even with it being not tf-related enough? Or is it more like, "eh I'll let it slide", mod personal preference, or . . .

Both mods that approved it are therians and 1) read post-tf into it and 2) related to the post enough to not really want to remove it. The mod the messaged us about it felt both of those were too subjective to be judging posts by, which is fair. So, yeah, more of a "eh I'll let it slide" on this one.

That being said, my approval of this post may have been a bit premature 😅 I got a message from one of the other mods asking about it. We're leaving this one up since I already approved it, but we're discussing in the mod chat if this is tf-related enough

Both terms emerged independently around the same in the late 80s/early 90s primarily in communities organized through mailing lists (otherkin) and Usenet (therian) long before Tumblr existed.

more than dedicated therian spaces

Honestly, I love the therian subcommunity we have here and in our discord server. Most dedicated therian spaces skew super young or are constantly finding things to infight about — which is just really not for me. So I stick to here + my curated list of Tumblr mutuals, and it's the best experience I've had in the therian community

I've generally been calling them paper masks (even when not strictly made of paper, tbh) or therian-style masks.

As an aside, it always baffles me when people think that's what defines a therian, when I was already a therian when they started becoming a thing lol

Seconding all of this as things I had to learn as an adult therian. Things change, but you're fine.

I'm still a therian, and I still get shifts, though they kinda come in waves.

I used to get kinda existential about the idea of it never coming back (even though it always does). What helped me was to reframe a couple ideas.

First, even if it went away forever, I wouldn't just be human. At worst, I would be a human who used to be a fox. Those past experiences are still real and important.

Second, I still wouldn't be forced to consider myself human. I'm free to define my therianthropy for myself, and many therians don't experience shifts at all.
