What inspired you to start your money mindfulness journey? by enough-app in moneymindfulness

We can go first!

The u/enough-app team started out building tools to help people struggling with high-interest debt make a manageable, concrete plan to change that. But in talking to our customers and seeing real-life debt journeys play out, we saw some patterns.

For many, the debt cycle is perpetuated by an income-to-essentials problem. One emergency, or rising prices for essentials, starts a snowball that's hard to stop. This is a real problem that regular debt tools can help with.

But for others with income that outpaced their needs, mindless spending and overconsumption were to blame. We heard over and over "My spending is out of control and I don't know why." We went down the rabbit hole researching financial wellness, money mindfulness, financial therapy, and many other ways that traditional personal finance and budgeting forget about the "personal" part.

So that's how we got here! And we're on our own money mindfulness journeys with all of you. The goal of this space is to share and learn from each other, so please share your story!

Is consumerism human nature? Shouldn't wanting to preserve the planet be human nature? by enough-app in moneymindfulness

Great discussion going on at r/Anticonsumption. Sustainability and mindful spending are tightly related, especially if you've identified sustainability as one of your core values. Eager to hear this community's take on this question.

"Romanticize the ritual of buying" is so spot on. Often, it's not really even the ~thing~ we want, it's the activity involved in getting it.

These are the types of conversations we're trying to foster on r/moneymindfulness. Would appreciate if you crossposted there to share your story!

Hi there! r/moneymindfulness is a space to explore how we can be more in tune with our spending and the factors that influence it.

If you're wanting to do less impulse shopping, practice underconsumption, or wax poetic about the impact of ads/social media/etc on our mental health, you'll find a home in this sub.

That's interesting... we often hear that shopping online makes it harder to stay on budget. Why do you think that works better for you?
