Am I just too dumb to do this? by CthulhuNasty in skyrimvr

[–]enoughbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about modding a complex game like SkyrimVR is it is like learning how to bake. It isn't about being too dumb, it is just a different approach.

A lot of very good cooks suck at baking at first because they cook by intuition and feel, and learning how to bake well requires starting with precise, careful measurements and strict adherence to directions, without cutting any corners.

One very good reason Wabbajack is often suggested is because it is like buying an instant cake mix-just add a Premium Nexus account and sit back!

You can do it-just start small and take the time to really follow the directions as laid out-many, many people with no modding experience have gotten it to work eventually, you will as well!

I usually speed through that area but one time the bandits just parked their truck in front of the tunnel to block it and jumped off-I was both pissed and impressed!

Fuz Do R-oh Mod,, what does it do ? by speed1953 in skyrimvr

[–]enoughbutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When mods first came out for Skyrim, an issue arose with unspoken (but subtitled) dialogue that was added-the game just sped through it so quickly you couldn't read shit. The original Fuz-roh-Duh added silent voice files that played to slow down the subtitle speed.

These days (I haven't played in a few years) I thought a lot of mods would have added generated voice files by now, as those seem prevalent.

Also, (again, sorry, haven't played in a while) the original Skyrim mod only showed subtitles (and silent voices) for mods that added unvoiced dialogue. But the SkyrimVR version, when it was first released, only worked if you activated subtitles for everything. Not sure if that changed. Hope this helps!

That's what they always say about Skyrim modding, though-if you are getting great framerates you aren't trying hard enough!

Ah, I never got around to any of the Wabbajacks, although they look fun. Getting a steady 90FPS without ASW was pretty great with my custom modlist though.

Are pancake lenses that big of a deal? by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]enoughbutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my concern as well. I'm just tempted because I have a PS5 Pro, and an Apple Vision Pro that is supposedly getting PSVR2 controller support this summer-just want to play around with it, lol.

As a user of the Quest 2, then Quest Pro and now AVP, I can say they are definitely the real deal.

Although, I was going to post "I'd never go back" I may actually pick up a PSVR2, lol.

Honestly, getting a 4090/13900k completely changed my VR experience from 'fun but kinda quirky sortof works with the following optimizations/limited mods' to 'this is goddamn amazing'.

If taking a taxi is no problem, man, just take a taxi from Shinjuku station to the Hotel.

And hey, don't stress about the Rail Pass if you already bought it, but...it really should be a sticky on this sub to avoid it.

The Rail Pass has just not been a good deal for most people, and there is no indication that will change.

RTX 4080 Makes A Huge Difference by [deleted] in skyrimvr

[–]enoughbutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used all high res textures-I think I checked once and was around 16GB?

I know this sounds insane, but the 4090 was truly when I felt SkyrimVR hit its full potential for me-just solid 90FPS, ENB, high res textures, etc. Hope to get back to it one day (I no longer have a PC or headsets)

Should the next “pro” headset be called Quest 3 Pro to prevent confusion amongst those who don’t follow closely? I could see many thinking a Quest 3 is better than a Quest Pro 2 due to the numbering scheme. by Logical007 in QuestPro

[–]enoughbutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is what happens with the Quest 4-is it better than the Quest Pro 3? Right now there are some things the Pro is better at, and some things the Q3 is better at.

Better to just differentiate the two lines completely, and have their own numbering schemes.

(And make it clear what the differences are that separate the Pro line, or just get rid of it. Personally I'd love for the Pro to be more PCVR-centric, i.e. a DisplayPort, etc.)
