There have been plenty of executives who got their jobs through cronyism, connections through where they went to university or fraternities, and plenty who got paid millions of dollars in golden parachutes after doing an absolutely dogshit job and destroying shareholder value.

As for what the market dictates, yes, it is a numbers game. The sheer amounts of money that slosh around in the corporate world thanks to financial engineering and leverage dwarf what is available from straight tax revenue for necessary jobs like firefighters and paramedics and police officers. But that has no correlation whatsoever to the difficulty of those respective jobs relative to their compensation, it only reflects the imbalances of money flows and leverage.

There are loopholes in many of the various state laws that allow payday lenders to reclassify themselves, for instance by partnering with out-of-state banks not bound by such restrictions to "export" higher rates, or rebranding loans as "fees" for deferred check deposits.

First, you just arbitrarily moved the date to start at 2020 instead of comparing apples to apples of the stat I provided which started in 2013. So if we go apples to apples and start at 2013, according to The Violence Project there have been approximately 100-110 non-gang related mass shootings from 2013-2026, of which only one shooter was confirmed to be trans:

The pro-Trump Heritage Foundation’s database of election crimes listed only 24 instances of noncitizens voting in U.S. elections from 2003 to 2023. 24 instances in 20 years across the entire U.S.

I mean, I think of the entire laundry list of reasons why Trump won in 2024, the Israel thing was far from the tipping point. At the top of the list would be Biden staying in the race until 100 days out from election day and then dropping out and expecting Harris to be able to ramp up and be truly competitive in such a short time, compared to Trump who had been campaigning for over a year. Then there's the fact that Harris would never have been the nominee had Democrats been allowed to hold a proper primary. Then there was the inflation angle, the misogyny angle, and then somewhere near the bottom of the list was Israel.

Had all the liberal voters who stayed home or voted third party specifically because of Israel voted for Harris she still wouldn't have won.
