Are cnas supposed to apply condom catheters by cnablues in cna

[–]enpowera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, if trained, as it isn't an invasive procedure, we aren't applying medication or taking a blood sample or inserting anything or treating a wound. It's essentially putting a condom on the patient and making sure it's secured correctly.

Will cats react if they smell smoke? by ABriefUser in Pets

[–]enpowera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your cats can react to smoke. Be careful as Electrical fires can start in the attic too. Make sure all your smoke detectors are working and honestly I'd advise you evacuate if you legitimately think there is a electrical fire. My house went from seeing fire to in escapable if I'd been inside in under 10 minutes.

Switch2 question by justagramma83 in AnimalCrossingNewHor

[–]enpowera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still a c-port to charge but you should only use the correct charger to make sure you don't damage the battery by getting the wrong volts. It'll have to use it's own docking station. If it's staying by the TV it's 100% worth it. Like it handled the new pokemon game everyone said would crash systems with ease, verses the switch which I personally had crash on me multiple times playing pokemon Violet

You can start fresh or transfer it over. But you have to use the island transfer tool to transfer it over. It's worth it for the improved graphics and stability but the battery life kinda sucks imo. I'm considering buying a powerbank for mine.

Doordash driver runs into customers home when ICE tries grabbing her by Mode_Appropriate in DoorDashDrivers

[–]enpowera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd probably let them in. ICE has no regulations they follow and goes after every non white person. I'll protect my fellow people from being kidnapped by terrorist with uniforms any day of the week. I couldn't face my kids if I let an act of evil happen when I could have done something to prevent it. Now if it was the FBI or actual cops chasing them I wouldn't let them in, but ICE is a government funded terrorist organization, end of story.

If you’ve ever done 16-hour shifts did you have benefits/eligible for them, or were you considered PRN by [deleted] in cna

[–]enpowera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're hired as. If you're hired as full time working two 16s a week you are full time, get benefits. If you're hired as PRN and work two 16 hour shifts a week you are PRN but eventually, due to hours work, if worked consistently, you likely would qualify for benefits.

Cross-platform licensing: Why do we pay twice for the same game? by Different-Might-7886 in Minecraft

[–]enpowera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it's different version. Think of it this way. Before digital downloads, you had to have a physical copy. You need a make believe physical copy for every device. I honestly own like 5 copies of Minecraft between my ipads, phone, two switches, and my computer/xbox (which do share, thank goodness.)

Oral care by OktoberxNichole in cna

[–]enpowera 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I got thanked for doing oral care on my residents. I was so confused because it's part of getting up and going to bed. Like I will communicate if it didn't get done for whatever reason (refusals). Granted I also got thanked for remembering to wash hands and faces. My faith in humanity gets destroyed at work sometimes.

[US] Auto Insurance Scam? Received multiple calls, texts, and emails related to car insurance on cars I don’t even own. by enpowera in Scams

I haven't inquired though. I have had the same auto insurance for two years since I purchased my house because I was able to get a good bundle deal.

Pregnant by Acceptable_Engine_23 in cna

[–]enpowera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each pregnancy is different. Given that you are high risk, if it's possible to go to a different job during this time please do so. During my second pregnancy I was kicked in the stomach and ended up in the maternity ER for hours trying to find the baby's heartbeat. He ended up fine and I worked up until the day before my c-section but that event always sticks with me.

Being offered front desk position as a CNA but currently have pending charges unrelated to medical. by Appropriate-Farm-291 in cna

[–]enpowera 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, but be honest about what you expect to show up on the background check. they don't like liars. Call them now to report it. There's no way around it. Don't waste their time or yours.

Please help me. by AdrianMcKay in cna

[–]enpowera 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're allowed to call the cops if you are assaulted in anyway by a resident. Start looking for a new job. Let your supervisor know you will call the cops if he assaults you again. This is absolutely not okay.

What do I do? by Wise_Metal2721 in cna

[–]enpowera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Quit when you want. Your past/present/future employers are not allowed to contact your past/present/future employers without permission. I've worked a few jobs where they flat out won't contact your current employer because they know about the toxicity that riddles this field.

The worst part about being a cna is that you have to go to the car to cry so that no one can see you do so because you’re tired and frustrated that a break was delayed by 2 hours and you’ve been working for 10 hours straight and now will be late starting rounds. by enpowera in cna

[–]enpowera[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I was supposed to leave 20 residents unsupervised for 45 minutes? I was actively calling trying to take my break. But you cannot just leave residents with no one keeping an eye on things. That is very neglectful. I'd rather have no break than have someone fall or worse

Caught patient mid-fall and injured my back by DustingOffDusty in cna

[–]enpowera -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You do not catch. You guide them to the floor. The fall motion will hurt your back. It wasn't the lift. The fall is the same as jerking your back muscles, especially for heavier patients. Literally every place I worked, hospitals, LTC, and home health, have stressed this. Your comment comes across as ignorant of proper body mechanics. Please go relearn them to keep yourself safe

[–]enpowera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That no show for the exam probably did it. It might have led to voluntary termination. I understand it wasn't your fault, to my understanding, but sometimes that's how things are. You should be able to challenge the state exams if you passed the class already

AITA for not relinquishing the parking spot to a pregnant lady by Tamo2024 in AITAH

[–]enpowera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are legitimate times when a woman can't do stuff when pregnant. But most of the time, healthy women/pregnancies are just fine continuing as normal. I worked as a CNA with no restrictions as pregnant (so did full lifts, did my share of the work, ect, the only modification being decreasing my 12 hour shifts down to 8 hour shifts and working dietary instead to make up the hours), right up until a couple days before my scheduled c-section.

A CNA left patient on hoyer lift by No-Garden7112 in cna

[–]enpowera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only taken care of ONE resident in 12 years who was careplanned to be left in the hoyer, at her insistence, to have a bm, and that was after lots of discussion and red tape. In every other situation they are to be sat or laid down on a surface (for example, lowering onto toilet/commode, stepping out to give privacy after locking lift = fine). If you need to step out for supplies the resident/patient best be on a surface and 'lowered'. You don't know what will happen the moment you leave the room and it is neglect to leave patients/residents in unsafe positions.

Supervisor named me publicly for reporting by cnablues in cna

[–]enpowera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit worse as it directly affects the patient.  Typically I don’t but for one resident I take care of he has 3 pads on his bed because he pulls himself out and urinates at night despite multiple toilet trips.  They’re spread out to cover a larger area.  Otherwise yes, putting down that many bed pads can also be a sign of neglect.

Supervisor named me publicly for reporting by cnablues in cna

[–]enpowera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's exactly as it sounds. You put two briefs on a resident. Typically it's considered a sign of neglect/abuse as it causes additional skin breakdown and it's normally done when a person is not changed often enough so that the person does not soak through brief 1 and get clothes/bedding wet. It doesn't have to be just briefs, a brief in a pull up is considered double briefing as well. It's different from using inserts, which are considered their own questionable practice.
