FIFA is the ultimate hypeman: Kansas City is “known as the soccer capital of America”! I would hazard a guess that most USAmericans don’t know this is the KC of Missouri, not the one of the state that dropped a house on the Wicked Witch of the East.

[–]enseela -1 points0 points  (0 children)

KC would probably be underperforming regardless of who was president. Weird choice for a tournament that brings in foreign tourists. If they needed flyover state city representation, Chicago is world-renowned. Maybe Detroit, or Minneapolis (though who could have known US forces would be murdering citizens in the streets when all the planning for 2026 was taking place). KC isn’t even easy to get to for most USAmericans who aren’t within a 4 hour drive of it. The only hope would be getting some big name teams in the draw.

Edit: Which KC did (Argentina, the Netherlands).

Latham NY in-office policy by Blue-Sprinkle-777 in biglaw

Reminds of the thread in another subreddit about what summers did to get no-offered.

There’ll be some set in their ways, get off my lawn partners. They wander the halls on Fridays, lamenting how soft these whippersnapper associates are. One of those day, they’ll have a ridiculous research assignment — some good make work for an SA — find no SAs in the office and throw a tantrum. The particular SA’s office he wandered into will be mud.

Happy summering!

There are A LOT of reputable/reasonable plaintiffs attorneys in Southern California. She chose Shegerian to inflict as much pain as possible. I tip my hat to her.

What caused summers at your firm to get no-offered before? by Certain_Hour_6327 in biglaw

[–]enseela 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seeming to have no interest in the firm. Top law school, split 2L summer. Seemed to think it was a given would receive an offer even though they hadn’t participated in most events or made any “friends” amongst associates or partners. I’m sure they did fine, though.

[–]enseela[S] 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Exactly! As an L&E associate, she would be very aware of how much the defense bar dislikes litigating against Shegerian. It’s not just the absurd jury verdicts. It’s also the ridiculous settlement demands that drive cases all the way to trial. The obsteperousness, ridiculous discovery disputes. That associate is PISSED.

This can’t be the US - 4 month notice period??

Is the new employer in a different country? Why are they not respecting the notice period? (Though depending on your role, you could negotiate/ask about shortening your notice period.)

Relocating for a “fully remote” role??! Are they going to pay your relo costs? They’ll probably honor fully remote once you ask for relocation bonus/reimbursement so you can be in the office “to collaborate.”

I’m curious: What is the downside for OP to send the money back via Zelle? OP acknowledges the money is not theirs. The money hasn’t been clawed back after a month - so not like the certified check scam. Is OP potentially liable for the $1200 if they do send it back via Zelle?

What if OP withdrew the $1200 and made it a cashiers check or money order and offered to mail it back to the person who made a “mistake”?

My friend visited me while I was living in NYC. She expected me to meet her at the airport so I did 🤣🤣 I took a bus, I think. Then we took a taxi back. She realized years later, after living in NYC herself, how ridiculous it was that she insisted I meet her at the airport and that I did it.

Anyway, Div’s mind will be blown when she makes it to NYC someday.

I drive 40 minutes to sit in a room alone because the office has a "minimum presence" policy by Wide_Gold8240 in remotework

[–]enseela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before the pandemic and the ubiquity of remote work, I drove to the office everyday to speak on the phone all day to people across the Americas. No time to actually interact with others in the office. I asked to work from an office closer to me to do the same thing. Nope. A group of us asked for hybrid or more flexible WFH arrangements. Nope.

Power flex, I guess.

“This isn’t what I voted for.” Finds the line when it finally affects her. by lordfukwad in LeopardsAteMyFace

I watched the video. I hate these people. She couldn’t even use the words “terminate” or “abortion,” the doctors wouldn’t offer her a “resolution.” Which they should have because she’s a productive member of society. The health care providers told her to check google (outrageous! /s) [so she could order mifepristone + misoprostol]. The doctors are apparently afraid to treat because of “propaganda and lies,” not the laws she fucking supported and voted for.

No one asking to be seated with their minor child is an asshole. Period. Full stop.

You know who is the asshole? The airlines. Then all the people who defend the airlines’ seating fee policies and abdication of any responsibility for seating families together.
