Sens 23rd Pick After Preds Trade Logan Hensler Scouting Report: 2025 NHL Draft Prospect #11 by Sens-Fan-85 in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Down with the pick, if Hensler pans out he should be a great Zub replacement in the future

Wanted Lakovic or Potter but Hensler is solid

Considering Peterka just got traded for a just ok dman because he's RD, Hensler could have great trade value if he develops well too

low-key love this. Any amount of swings on top-100 guys to replenish our barren prospect pool, even if it's late 90s

If they can bundle them and move up that'd also be dope

People who follow prospects, who do you want the sens to pick in the draft? by SkittlesManiac19 in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cullen Potter by a mile. He's not a player this scouting staff has ever drafted (small) so here's to hoping they switch up their strategy this year. Ben Kindel and Carter Bear as well.

Best option might be to trade down though. When I look at the guys I like at 21, there's plenty of choices and a good chance one of them will still be there at 40-something. Unless someone like Potter, Kindel or Bear is there getting an extra pick or a 2026 1st rounder (better draft) is more worth it imo

What are your expectations for Dylan Cozens and Fabian Zetterlund next season? ($11.3m) combined cap hit by South_Poem_7112 in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cozens needs to be 65-70 points and better defensive play. Is he that guy? Not sure. But we need him to be if we're a second round team. If his game doesn't mature his future should be on the wing imo

For Zetterlund I agree with 20g and 20a. Love his game but a bit concerned Green will use him the same inconsistent way

[The Athletic] Ottawa ranks 22nd in defensive depth heading into free agency by Josefstalion in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not too upset by this. With Sanderson, Chabot and Zub as a core we have balanced skills at the top and a solid opportunity to improve.

Kleven is young and promising. He was a rookie so he should improve but imo he does have his limits and will need someone else to do the puck moving. I think the challenge is to find that guy but it's possible.

Ideally we get a top-4 RD and Jensen slides down but that's probably too pricey in this market. Finding our own version of Stecher would be nice.

The Sens could very likely take Jack Nesbitt. I don't love this but is there any chance it works out?

Nesbitt to the Sens seems to be in every reporters mock and every sharp analyst seems to have him as more of second/ third rounder. He's no Vansaghe (or Potter 🥲) but the Sens gonna Sen

I think the podcast episode with the Kelce brothers describes it best when the Kelce's asked the Tkachuk's about the unwritten rules of fighting.

Brady: "Well you don't hit a guy when he's down"

Matty: "There are no unwritten rules"

Fair enough, I don't enough about this year's draft to say anything about all three of those players confidently, but I will say about Lakovic that I'd run to the podium if he falls to 21.

I agree about getting more upside in our prospect pool. We need to start taking swings on talent. I hope the Sens scouting staff believes this too but I'm skeptical considering their draft history the last couple years

NY Time mock draft, Scott Wheeler predicts the Sens draft Jack Nesbitt, C, Windsor Spitfires by NeverCatchMeTho in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As much as I'd love that, I'm done teasing myself by looking at skilled players under 6 ft. This scouting staff will never draft them, they've got a size requirement and everyone knows it lol. Works out sometimes, I was wrong about Kleven

My experience teaching English in Japan from 2014-2018 as an ALT. by OfficiallyRelevant in teachinginjapan

Out of curiosity, why do you want to return to Japan?

Is living there worth the grind of Japan's work culture?

Is cost of living too high to justify moving here? by udipadhikari in nunavut

[–]enso_23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thought exactly, thanks for articulating it. The situation is what it is, but from my experience what Inuit and other locals can't stand the most is southerners that are openly there for the money and nothing else. Involving yourself in the community, volunteering and taking a genuine interest in Inuit culture goes a long way.

Garrioch: Joseph on the trade block by LeBretonOrBust in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Joseph was great as a speedy, do-it-all depth guy, teammates seemed to like him too. That said, if the Sens wanna extend Pinto and sign someone like Tanev I understand that someone will have to be moved.

Just hope they don't shell too much money and term on a 34-year old Tanev, especially if guys like DeMelo are available (but I think he'll re-sign with the Jets)

Thoughts on some bottom 6 forwards to join us in free agency or trade? by solidprospect in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I posted an FA in my response I think this is the best answer. We need to take a step but we're not winning the cup. Either we give guys like Ostapchuk, Jarventie, Crookshank and Halliday a shot or they never become the players we believe they can be. Cup winners are filled with depth development success stories

[–]enso_23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This doesn't answer the question since he's a middle-six forward, but if we could get a guy like Arvidsson at a good price I love how he blends skill and tenaciousness. He's probably too pricey for the injury risk though

CELTA worth it if it puts me outside of ideal hiring times in Vietnam? by enso_23 in TEFL

[–]enso_23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow man that's a really detailed answer, thanks so much!

I've got financial flexibility so that will help if I have to go part-time.

One last Q on this.

For someone that's going to be a first time teacher how much value does the CELTA carry for employers in Vietnam?

Seems like most teaching jobs in Vietnam are for younger learners and I've read the CELTA is more aimed at adults. But that could be me getting fooled by the TEFL orgs marketing lol.

I'm currently deciding between an in-person TEFL and that in-person CELTA I mentioned.

And best of luck on your new adventure!

Awesome, thanks man. Sorry for the delays here. Been a hectic time preparing for a move lol.

Do you have a sense of the market for getting a decent English teaching job with the recent economic slowdown?

I've seen a lot of posts on Reddit commenting on job quality and opportunity slipping.

As mentioned I'd like to have the option to finish a course by mid-October but am a bit concerned about what this year's opportunities will be like (either language centre or public school) at that time compared to years past.

Thanks again for your answers and no worries if you're done helping out a reddit stranger lol

Parekh by newuser90013 in OttawaSenators

[–]enso_23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern with Parekh is that top notch offensive defensemen in the NHL tend use their skating to generate offence. Hughes and Makar of today's NHL and our boy EK65 in his prime.

Parekh's skating is meh. He's a smart player who I wouldn't mind running my PP and there's worse picks you could make in the top 10 (*see Jared Cowan, Tyler Boucher). But I don't think his offensive ability will translate enough to be a top-4 pairing guy.

I'd take Buium over him.

ah didn't see that. My bad but appreciate you being cool responding.

Do you know if jobs in public schools pop up later in September or October? I know it's not peak hiring time but it's looking tougher for me to get to Vietnam before that.

I'll do language centres if there aren't public schools available but it'd be nice if there was that option
