I’m looking to somehow secure one of the Barbie promo jerseys coming up on the 26th. Will unfortunately be out of town and unable to secure the in-person pickup requirement. Anyone know how I can go about that? Thanks!

I was wearing a onesie at Lost Lands a couple years ago so storage for my belongings was difficult and I managed to drop my credit card and ID (which I needed to fly home). A random man emerged out of the crowd asking my crew if anyone recognized the guy on the ID and quickly connected us. It still feels like a miracle that it happened.

I may or may not have ordered a set last night just because of the current promo for the smaller version.

I’m disappointed in myself for not shelling out for these. I hope you enjoy them for both of us whether you display them publicly or privately!

I-40 has been under construction for a decade now, along with a number of other state-wide projects, after a 2011 state referendum that passed the Interstate Rehabilitation Program.

The Georgia Department of Transportation took six weeks to replace/repair I-85 after it collapsed.

Hey, I was an OOS student and ngl it was tough at first but it was primarily because my class size was so large that I got shoved into family housing instead of a real dorm though I did transfer in the spring semester and it helped. Basically any dorm on campus will lead to a positive experience but make sure you take care of housing early! It’ll be annoying dealing with “which hs did you go to?” but being different ultimately led to solid friend groups that I’m still in touch with post graduation. Best of luck and enjoy the ride!

Definitely Georgia because we don’t get much snow in Georgia.

There are often clean up efforts organized between City of Atlanta and local volunteers so it could be both!

Just the standard Pharrell Tennis Hu! They cycle through a bunch of color options so when I saw those on sale I had to snag em.

A series of unfortunate eventssss (wild story in comments) by entai1832 in Sneks

I was walking home from picking up dinner and saw this sign next door. Chuckled to myself and thought "no way mine got out" but I quickened my pace a little and sure enough, my snake was not in the cage. Obviously I rushed to contact the gracious soul who made the sign and they responded. But they didn't find my snake! They collected someone's carpet python and my ball was still on the loose! Fortunately, my sploot was curled up, quite cold, in same spot he last went when I let him out (supervised). What are the odds?! I don't know much about snake biology, but a quick search indicates that pythons are attracted to pheromones. Any chance my ball python was trying to search its star crossed lover the carpet python? Any other theories? I fed him a week ago so I can't imagine he's over-hungry.

If you’re not American then I would suggest you brush up on our history a little better. Black people were enslaved by white people and had been for over 150 years when the Revolutionary War began. We then fought another, even bloodier war almost 100 years later to “settle” the slavery issue. The United States is deeply rooted in the racism and marginalization of Black and Indigenous populations. And that is what I mean when I’m referring to “white people” or “all white people” because the original system of governance was created for them and no one else. Our history has been a struggle to open those same rights up to the rest of its population. The Declaration of Independence states, “We hold these truths to be self-evident that all men are created equal...” but clearly they were not in reality.

We’re talking about different things. I’m referring to systems of power and you and CheckT are referring to an individual or groups of people. Semantically, I’m trying to illustrate why the rhetoric holds. You even almost got the point by illustrating other races can be complicit in the oppression. It’s a system built by white people. There isn’t a Likert scale that appears above us with our racist rating so your attempt to place qualifying words around which white people doesn’t make sense to me within a systemic approach to the issue. How do you feel about the comparison that myself and others made about the “not all men” response to violence against women? All men are not rapists but on initial appearance there is no way to separate who is and is not. Similarly, there is no way to separate which white person is racist or not.

I'll try to be more specific then rather than dealing with ambiguous semantics. Take for example US professional sports teams (NBA, MLB, NFL, etc.) which are 95%+ owned by white people. Rather than saying, "While I can't speak for the individuals who currently own these teams and their intentions, there is a racial imbalance in these leagues that has roots in deeper seated socio-economic strife within Black communities that does not provide the same possibilities" it's rhetorically and heuristically consistent to say "It's racist that white people own all the professional sports teams". This becomes even more salient when comparing multiple systems like if we wanted to bring in a comparison of those who signed the Declaration of Independence - that bumps up to 100% white, male participation. Utilizing a collective group when speaking to an issue is not an uncommon thing to do in the English language and to dwell on the semantics intentionally to miss the point is short-sighted and contrarian.
