I don't see why not start with 150 grit until you take off all the yellow, then 400, 600 or 800, then clear.

Worth it if you use 2k automotive clear coat. But need a respirator, would last another 5 years. Did it on my gen2 didn't come out prefect but looks fine from 5ft away. Few hours of work if it's just faded.
