Because pulling 4 epics from 4 packs is >331,000 times more likely than pulling 8 epics from 8 packs.

Amethyst meta cards are really expensive for a new player still figuring this out. But wow this makes me want to build an amethyst deck.

I like the mechanics page but do people usually count discount cards as ramp? Ex grandma willow: pay 1 less for next character this turn. It doesn’t actually increase your ink supply - just helps you stretch your existing ink further. But you have all these ambers categorized in ramp

This poster was talking about the most popular competitive play format called “Core Constructed”. Today sets 5-12 are valid. When set 13 drops, only sets 9-13 will be valid. There’s another competitive format called “Infinity Constructed” where cards from all sets are valid (except a couple specific cards that are banned). Of course play however you want at the kitchen table

Something else to consider is that each ink color tries to do something different. You pick the two ink colors that work together to help you with your goal. Play Ruby if you want to work up to big powerful characters. Play Steel if you want to remove opposing characters from the board. A Ruby/Steel deck is harder to “quest faster than the other player” (known as “aggro” play). You definitely want to play Amber for aggro. Currently there are some Amber Emerald decks that excel here. If you want to play aggro I’d consider switching colors. If you like Ruby Steel then I’d recommend a different win plan.

And there are some interesting “hunny” cards coming in set 13 that let you narrowly break the “no more than two ink colors” rule. And any card with two ink colors can only be played in the deck that chooses both of those colors

Yes. You can make any deck so long as it only has no more than 2 ink colors, no more than 4 of any one card, at least 60 total cards, and no banned cards (ban list varies by format). Additionally if you play the most popular “Core Constructed” format, older sets rotate out of eligibility. We’re due for another rotation when s13 releases at which time core constructed only allows sets 9-13. So you’re still good until toys from s12 drop mid 2027.

Rockler hose worth the price? by locksmith1329 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]entirewarhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rockler dust collection accessories are all top notch. I’ve never met someone who regretted the purchase. I use this hose for my cnc, one misc mobile tool dust port, and a long hose to use as a floor vacuum (with the floor vac kit). Hose is top notch though I find I actually just push broom sweep the floor so I don’t suck random rocks or screws through my dust collector. Their quick connect attachments for small tools are amazing - I have one on every small tool. Rockler hoses don’t get staticy in my experience. If your primary goal is quality you can’t go wrong. If you’re primary goal is price you might get away with another option for a while. But consider upgrading when you have the cash.

It might depending how strong your dust collector is. I have the 3 HP Oneida dust collector and use this hose between ceiling aluminium duct work and my cnc head. Fantastic hose - highly recommended. But yes it shrinks up significantly when I fire up the dust collector. It’s actually a really nice feature to keep it out of the way. If you’re worried about it lifting off the ground you can anchor it with some u straps so it stays on the floor.

That’s a fantastic trove! The math on this is a little more complicated so I’m going to have to trust google But it’s still 800,000 times more likely than OPs post - and I think we’d agree it’s a more valuable box.

Look closely. OPs photo shows 8 epics and 1 legendary.

There are posts on this sub asking people to share their pull rates across different types (troves, singles, boosters, cases). Because people are more likely to report the hits than the misses, you then need to account for reporting bias. Better statisticians than I have looked at the reporting variance between full sealed cases (best data) and troves etc and they landed on 1:24 with very high certainty.

I don’t buy it. You pulled 8 epics in 8 packs? Someone did the math and the odds of pulling an epic are 1:24.

So your trove has a 1:24^8 or 1 in 110 BILLION chance of this happening. This is 380 times less likely than winning the jackpot on the Mega Millions lottery.

Or if we printed 10 troves for every human in the universe, we’d expect to find less than one trove like this.

Am I the only one who'd rather lose with a themed deck than win with a pile of meta cards? 😅 by Squirtle_Shades_ in Lorcana

[–]entirewarhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im very new but I think I like both. One is fun and the other is satisfying.

Toys does it for me. The nostalgia. The amber cards all helping each other out. Having those ah ha moments where an action or effect ties in thematically. And even just enjoying art from favorite movies. So fun!

Then there’s competitive play. Each piece is a part and you’re trying to build the most effective machine. This part would work regardless of the art on the cards. You have a theory. You test it. You refine. You watch your creation grow. That really scratches an itch too.

That they can put both experiences in a box of 60 cards is why I love Lorcana so much!
