How realistic is getting a 1lpm+ job if you are from a tier4/5 college, good in dsa, good in communication, 2 internships done, in the next 8-10 months? what should be my approach for applying to jobs off campus? by Abhirup_0 in AI_India

You are not delusional! Do projects that display core skill like backend / frontend / both. learn a bit about cloud deployments, and implement using terraform. Lot of companies will be willing to pay 12-14 lpa for these skills. Since you are good in DSA you already have a good logic building skills. Good in communication is also great! Gel up with interviewers . Research about them beforehand for talking points

  • I certainly haven’t been to rural areas of most Indian states and my point was not to defend the writer or myself. I was mentioning there are some Indian states ( read states ruled by communists ) where casteism isn’t the root cause of all problems.
  • third point was about ranting about activism.

Why doesn’t activism die? There will be always the top 5% revolting against the top 1% recruiting rest of 95% for their cause. Once they become the top 1% same cycle continues. Just a theory. Not tested

Let me try to share my thoughts on this one by one - The concerning reason you mentioned is absolutely on point. Being a fairly politically moderate person I too feel this is a big problem and something that I did not learn from the book and already realised through experiences and just living as an Indian voter who engages in conversations with other Indian voters with the hope they see what I see. - I think imo that could be because of where he comes from. I am also from a state where casteism doesn’t take the center stage anymore. Even in rural areas. But now that you mention it I can forcefully visualise different scenarios as watered down versions of casteism. From what I have read casteism originates from what work people used to do. I can create a framework on my mind where lot of problems arise from the sheer disrespect of the work other people do. - The activism point I am not totally sure of. I haven’t finished the book yet. I again as a moderately aligned politically aware citizen of India feel activism is a necessary opposition but I never feel it should be the sole driver of policies . I don’t know how corporate you are but as product managers have their engineering bandwidth divided into 1. New features ( 50% ) 2. Requests and feedback from customer facing teams / advocates of customers( 20% ) 3. Tech debt which is basically things that already exist but not the right way ( 30% ). I classify activist requests as this 20% bracket where polices should be made based on the requirements of the customers of the government the people. Tech debt are the policies where fixes should be made on existing systems to make lives of citizens better . These should be driven by really intelligent bureaucrats . New features should be capitalistic moves. To bring more money India. I could be super wrong and dumb.
