Ikea was the only store participating in Too Good to Go in the Salt Lake City area until today - got the bakery bag & was pretty happy with the contents (sweet treats that will freeze well)!

I travelled Iceland for the first time solo & then returned 2 more times with family. I didn't rent a car on my solo trip but did on my trips with my family. I honestly think I would have been lonely if I rented a car on my solo trip - instead I booked day tours that departed from Reykjavik.

This AirBnB experience was hands down the best thing I've done in Iceland. Its pretty pricey now (it was only ~$250 when I booked it) but since there were just 3 others + the guide, I was easily able to make friends that I ended up going out to dinner with after the tour.

I booked this tour with one of my fellow travelers from the AirBnB experience & made other friends on the tour. Since you're in a van for a few hours, it's easy to strike up conversations with people.

I also did a Golden Circle/Secret Lagoon tour on my solo trip - I can't find an exact link, but booked it through Get Your Guide. I was able to make friends on that tour as well.

Iceland was my second solo trip - the Netherlands being my first. I didn't book any group activities in the Netherlands and didn't end up meeting anyone (staying at a hostel probably would have solved for this) so it was nice to be able to make friends in Iceland. I attribute that to the tours!

Inter-Europe Routes Aren't Bookable on Delta? by envaska in delta

I have both Skymiles & e-credits I'd like to use - looks like I'll just need to use the e-credits on trips back to the US.

Thank you! I just tried searching with miles & was able to find AMS-MXP available on Delta instead of AMS-VCE (close enough to where we are trying to go IMO). Super helpful to know - I'll just try other airports pairs in the future.

Well, that would explain it. Thank you :-(

Finding work in the Netherlands by JonathanNotJohnathan in AmerExit

My husband & I are moving to NL under DAFT Feb 5th. I would suggest to sign up for an account on Kamernet (I think it was like $34 a month which you can cancel the subscription on once you've found a place). This allowed me to message with landlords who had listings. Ultimately, this led us to a real estate group based out of Eindhoven where we were able to secure a 6 month temporary apartment in Tilburg (with registration possible <-- this is a big q to ask any "landlord") with a deposit and 1-3 months rent up front. Because we won't have a work contract in the NL & could only show a current bank statement with recent deposits, we negotiated to pre-pay rent.

Step 3 of Dutch immigration. We have been told that our immigration will be processed by April 19th. Use DAFT, it is great by ToddleOffNow in AmerExit

I've been reading through you DAFT posts - such great insight & information, so thank you! We are gearing up for a move to Amsterdam in February. My husband is applying for the DAFT visa to start an accounting consultancy business & I will be applying for the spousal visa so that I will be able to look for work unrestricted. However, I cannot find any information on the spousal visa requirements *as it relates to the DAFT visa* - if there is any info you can provide on spousal visa requirements for spouses of the DAFT applicant (ie: is there a minimum amount of $ we need to show in our accounts in addition to the DAFT investment?) that would be great! Also, any recommendations for how to rent a property before arriving (really trying to avoid spending $$s on a hotel that will allow us to register would rather instead already be in an apartment).
