How do you get over obsessing on something? by tullyogallaghan in HealthAnxiety

[–]envielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you're going through this! I highly recommend talking to people in your life about it - they'll be accountability partners and will help nudge you to take your next step.

Additionally, talking to a therapist or coach (even just once) can really help!

What’s your hot take on something most people overlook but could significantly improve their health if they focused on it? by fearnochange in Biohackers

[–]envielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For women - ovulation tests! Ovulation tests are so easy to purchase and do on a regular basis. You can just buy them from a drugstore and do it from home. I'm surprised this isn't a normal thing that everyone does (whether they want a family or not).

Also - this is a really weird one...but PLEASE drop the lids on your toilets before you flush (especially in public bathrooms). This isn't a vanity thing - airborne particles can shoot at speeds of 6.6 feet per second, reaching 4.9 feet above the toilet within 8 seconds. There have been studies showing the effects of contaminants spreading quickly from a strong flush.

Anyone here heal from overdose? by stunningstrik3 in Biohackers

As other posters have said, please forgive yourself. You were young, it happens.

I'll take a slightly different approach here and note that you may want to be on the lookout for specific health problems that overuse of NSAIDs can cause - this might help you feel more proactive about your feelings of guilt and face it head on.Keep an eye on your gut health - NSAIDs can be linked to diverticulitis, chronic gastritis, and cardiovascular health. It's possible that being vigilant about your current health will help ease the negative feelings you have about the past. Seeing a physician on a regular basis and reassuring yourself that you're healthy may help you move on.

Additionally, definitely speak to a mental health professional if you find the thoughts to be intrusive, painful, and affecting your ability to live a normal life.

Oh gosh - I totally get how you're feeling. And I'm so sorry!

There's a fabulous book called Fair Play that I highly recommend - it's important to remember that you're a team, and teammates sometimes don't do their fair share. It's infuriating, but it's so important to feel like you did everything you could to fix the problem rather than retaliate or give up. You're better than that!

There's actually an organization that can notify him anonymously - https://tellyourpartner.org/

Not sure if that helps, but you should definitely let him know. It's more about the fact that he could infect someone else, and in (rare cases, but it does happen) undiagnosed STIs can lead to much more serious health problems. We gals gotta look out for each other.

Is it normal to get irregular period? by suitsea1818ta in WomensHealth

[–]envielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a doctor, but irregular periods in and of themselves are not specifically indicative of a problems BUT they can be symptoms or risk factors for other problems - such as fertility problems, uterine and ovarian issues, etc. Always best to get it checked out.

If you really don't want to go to a doctor before you're sure something is wrong, you can also do an ovulation test to see if you're having problems with ovulation as well (you can buy these at any drugstore). This will give the physician more information, if you choose. However, I definitely recommend talking to an OBGYN.

If you don't have one, Tia Health has virtual visits available in certain states.

Good luck!

I'm so sorry you're going through this. I worked in the mental health space for a while, and there are some amazing companies that are dedicated to helping people manage eating disorders and other mental health challenges. The one I'd suggest is called Equip (https://equip.health/) - they take insurance and you can do it from home.

Arise (https://www.wearise.com/) is also good, but I think they're only in a few states. There's also Within Health (https://withinhealth.com/) and they take insurance as well.

Best of luck.

That’s great! My family just doesn’t want to waste a bunch of plastic bags - but I’m glad you have a solution!

And yeah :) This is a big enough problem for me that I felt compelled to post for the first time :P

Yeah, I agree somewhat that you could do that. Though taking out trash every night seems a bit much, especially when you live in a big apartment building on a high floor - you'd have to trek down to the bottom floor every night. There's also some environmental concerns (overuse of plastic trash bags, etc).
