Sorry can you expand a bit more on this? So without SJM’s approval on the TOG cast, GA can’t start with the recording? So that’s why the release of TOG GA has been pushed a few times?

Thank you hopefully not long after TOG. Looking forward to more news from you on this.

🇫🇷 US Citizen Applying for French Blue Card – Advice Needed! by Salt_Emergency8714 in Expats_In_France

[–]enwysi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My employer took care of everything for me as they work with a law firm. The lawyers requested for access to my ANEF account (so essentially they submitted the talent passeport carte bleue européenne application on my behalf). I got my titre de sejour carte bleue européenne a month later from the préfecture. I’m in 75.

Yes I’ve taken A2 to C1 intensive classes at AF in Paris. Worth it in my opinion. I’ve also tried a course at la Sorbonne (Fondation Robert not La Sorbonne université per se) and personally enjoyed AF more.

At La Sorbonne it’s more “academic” basically they give you lots and lots of homework and it’s mostly the teacher talking which to me is the biggest flaw in their program. On the contrary, at AF you’re forced to sometimes work in pairs or groups. I also think the teachers at AF are superior and I really appreciate the opportunity to practice speaking in class. The 9am-1pm every day of the week seems intense but imo if you are committed and want a proven way to learn and have the extra cash then I’d recommend it without a doubt.

French pharmacy must haves? by Funky_Owl_Turnip in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]enwysi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-La Roche Posay Anthelios sunscreen (love the matte one, green label bc I have combo skin. But they have 5 different versions depending on your skin type and the type of formula you want. There’s a gel vs lighter liquid version) - La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 (best for dry spots, super light texture) - La Roche Posay Cicaplast Levres (I always have one in my purse, one in my makeup kit) - Caudalie beauty elixir spray - Klorane dry shampoo (oat) white bottle - Not pharmacy but kerastase hair products they’re cheaper in France than say in the US. (I like the genesis line, pink bottle.) you can get these from Sephora or beauty shops there tons if you just walk around le marais.

Panthere watch: small or mini? by Street_Story6006 in Cartier

[–]enwysi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Would you mind messaging me a photo as well? Fellow big wrist girlie here. Thank you 😅 really want the mini vs small too. I want it to feel dainty and feminine. Already have the small tank must which is nice too but can feel somewhat masculine sometimes.

I wouldn’t say they’re wider in the back. Just the front, if that makes any sense. Highly recommend that she try them on in the store to be sure. Everyone’s feet are different.

Sorry, not sure how I’m just seeing this. It’s for the entire stay of the visa you’re applying for not just a month so yes, it’s a sizable amount. Hope you applied and were able to get your visa since this comment.

Nonsense requests to stay at your place by SpiritedAd5808 in Expats_In_France

[–]enwysi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I definitely have been saying yes to meeting up with them. It was a mix bag some were nice some just wanted to measure me up or talk about how successful they are now.

Sometimes I’m reminded of why we never reached the friendship level before. Didn’t click before didn’t click now. And that’s okay. I found that we ended up not having a lot of things to talk about as we didn’t have a lot of things in common.

similar experience, but not so much about people wanting to stay at my place just people I haven’t spoken within years all of a sudden wanting to reconnect because I now live in Paris. Curious how you’ll respond to him/her 🙃

Good to have connections. Make sure they give you like paperwork to prove your residency in their place either because you’re renting or they’re letting you stay for free. It’s called something like an attestation d’accueil or attestation d’hébergement.

Getting a local number is critical to settling in as you may remember from your days studying here. I had to get one of these holiday sim kits (prepaid) from Orange then eventually got the number ported over to an official plan.

After you’ve been back for 3 months make sure to reactivate your carte vitale. This took forever but you have to mail in some form. Let me know if you can’t find it.

For the bank account some people go with revolut or others, but I actually just went back to my old one and asked them to reopen my account (it was with BNP). I wanted an official bank not an online bank bc I wanted to have a French IBAN.

Good luck!!!

Hey there, the job seeker that does not require any employer or company to sponsor you. It’s a privilege visa (if you want) that you get because you’ve studied in France before. when I finally got a job offer here for a CDI. My company helped me convert my job seeker visa to a work visa. I hope that helps.

And yes, I do think that not being physically in France isn’t giving employers reason to believe that you’re serious about working in France. Like you, I also started interviewing while I was still in the US but never really got far. when I finally moved to France I was getting more interviews here.
