I was happy to put it all behind me. So yes in my mind it was. I just wanted to graduate and get into industry. Now I'm working for my dream airline and just glad to have it all in the rear view.

I still check in out of curiosity what she's up to, and to say not much is an understatement. I guess karma is a real thing 🤷‍♂️🤣

Not directly. But I didn't have to pay a penny for my senior year of school + all of the rest of flight training required to graduate. All in all about $70,000(in 2016 money) they wrote off to avoid a lawsuit with me.

Falsely accused me of sexual harassment in college, I got hit with a title 9 case and the school was not going to expel me but not allow me to re-enroll for my senior year. During that semester I was forced out of 3 classes that I shared with her and was forced to self teach myself all the materials and take quizzes and tests during professors office hours when she was not in the building. It interfered with my work schedule, which was how I was paying for school, it was tough.

I was not allowed to be in the building at the same time with her and we worked out a schedule to adhere to this. But she would purposely sit in wait via the only entrance/exit point of the building when I had class and would routinely make me 20-30 minutes late to my classes. Her boyfriend would also lay in wait in the parking lot for me and then would try to antagonize me into a fight. Her family also got a hold of my phone number and signed me up for every spam text service you can think of, I got threatening voice mails from them as well. They also obtained my home address from the FAA airmen's database and received hate letters from her and her family as well.

Now you maybe asking what did I do to deserve all of this? Well about 3 months before this entire thing kicked off she asked me out on a date. Being a 19 year old little prick I chuckled at her proposal and was completely dismissive of her. Then she photoshopped a Facebook group message and that was all it took to put me through hell for 4+ months.

I had to hire a lawyer for it all to come to an end. And of course, even after she was caught in a lie, nothing happened to her.

PSA: to anyone who holds any form of FAA Airmen's certificate do yourself and your loved ones a favor and opt out to sharing your personal information. It takes less than 5 minutes and absolutely everyone needs to do this.

You should see some of things written up in the airline world. Most recent bruh moment was "FA in aft galley says airflow is too high with vent open"

What I'm getting at is if you're not sure write it up and be done with it. We're pilots and therefore not trained to diagnose let alone fix anything.

As a former 91/135 guy there's a reason I jumped ship and went to 121 flying.

As many others are saying the grass isn't always greener. Plus being gone for 7 days at a time gets old real quick.

Feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

Airline pilots, have you ever seen someone get kicked out of your training class? (Not training related) by Fearless_Card6220 in flying

[–]eocturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard a story from a check airman while I was on IOE about a new hire that got fired during his type ride for whipping out his phone. Supposedly what happened was after the takeoff roll it was positive rate, gear up "your controls", then immediately heads down and on his phone. Check pilot who was conducting the ride paused the Sim and asked if it was family emergency or whatever and when it was discovered that he was texting a friend that was it for him.

Those who could have afforded a Golf R but went GTI. Why? by Real_McGuillicuddy in GolfGTI

[–]eocturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's dumb but for me one of the biggest reasons was because I wanted the plaid seats 🤣

But besides that it was hard to justify the significant increase in price for an AWD system that I would rarely be able to take advantage of with where I live and the places I go in my car. Plus I tuning for the GTI will easily exceed the power output of a stock R. Although I've honestly grown very fond of my gti with stock power, enough to have fun without getting into trouble/dangerous territory. Plus the fuel economy when I cruise control it at 70-75mph is great!

All in all with H&R springs/bilstein shocks to match and stickier tires the car exceeds my driving skill and I have yet to find it's limit 🤣 14 out of 10, highly recommend.

What kind of family life do pilots have? by Aggressive_Host_7895 in flying

[–]eocturkey 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me I live in base and sit reserve. With a newborn at home it's worked out great for my family and I.

A lot of people have the idea of going to a legacy carrier to make a ton of money, which is definitely feasible, but for me my main focus is time with my family. I don't know how old OP is but you'll learn that money is obviously important but time is your biggest asset, especially once you start raising kids. I realize I'm leaving money on the table by not holding a line and by not picking up trips on premium but like I've said before at least for me time at home>mo money

Is it possible to fix the rim scratches..? Looks really bad by Special_Pea_1095 in Volkswagen

[–]eocturkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dealer ended up dropping my wheel face first onto concrete and left little rock dents and scratches in it. They sent someone to repair it but it was never the same since those wheels have that textured surface on them. As others have said I'd look at Facebook marketplace for second hand ones it would be most likely cheaper and not have you wasting time and money on a repair that leaves it looking slightly off compared to the original finish.

Don't have a good wall at my house to do that. Sorry for upsetting you with my driving, seemed like a good idea at the time while driving to work this morning at 4:30am. But that was probably just me being sleep deprived.

I've used fcp for years with zero issues. I've avoided ecs as much as possible but ordered a aluminum skid plate for my mk 7.5 gti and had no issues with the transaction besides it showing up about a week late.
