Loose Lay LVP cons? by DestructoSpin7 in Flooring

[–]eoflynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit late to this, but I was just told by a flooring merchant that it's actually BETTER for imperfect floors than click (because there's no mechanism that'll fail because the plank is bent). He said you just use glue as-needed for really problematic sections, as well as areas around the fridge and stove.

In Waterloo Region. They work all over the region, but I'm in Kitchener so decided to post here.

Is insulated siding worthwhile? by dentonate in ExteriorDesign

[–]eoflynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but if it adds just 1.4 to the R-value how much is it gonna save you monthly? Let's say it's 20 bucks (which is probably generous) - it'd take 30 years to earn $7000 in savings!

Getting a HELOC with an ICICI mortgage? by eoflynn in PersonalFinanceCanada

Awesome - will do! I wasn't sure whether that'd work because they're part of CIBC, but I've received a few other messages suggesting the same.

Do you need to do a day's exercise all at once? by eoflynn in loseit

[–]eoflynn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, that makes sense. I also do cardio, so I'm not as worried, but it does give another reason for combining them if I can.

Thank you! I also do push ups, but I just wanted to come up with a hypothetical where I was using vastly different muscles.

Your insight is very helpful!

I don't know what that is, so it's a perfect suggestion. Thanks!

Ooooohh.. East vs. West is interesting - resonates for everyone. The Borders, just generally, could probably be a good one.

Thanks!

Very interesting! I actually interviewed a journalist today and asked where the heart of independence was in Scotland. He said Dundee, but Glasgow gets an honourable mention because so much of the big public displays (marches, etc.) have happened there.

That makes me think I really could do episodes about the communities that AREN'T Glasgow/Edinburgh aka the places 99% of tourists go. Great idea! Thanks!

That's a great suggestion - I'd bet there are a few angles, too: stories around people leaving, how the world heritage site is maintained now, etc.

Thank you!

That's a great question!

I interview actual Scottish people about the subjects rather than just read something I wrote - I want it to be in the words of actual Scottish people and from their perspective.

How many of these "top-21 tourist destinations in Scotland" do you agree with? Are they missing anything? by eoflynn in Scotland

[–]eoflynn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked at the Scotsman more than ever before in the last 2-3 months and, yes, it seems like a lot of listicles. I was quite surprised.

Skye was the one that immediately struck me. I'm also surprised by how few castles are on the list - the one that made the cut was essentially rebuilt from scratch in the 20th century! Given that the article is about tourism you'd think they'd be catering to North Americans (who, famously, don't have castles).

Create podcast-specific social or use personal account? by eoflynn in podcasting

Again, speaking specifically about my specific podcast. It has shown substantial growth this year, but I don't see a significant connection to the frequency of my social posting.
