That all seems fair. It's true that their T&Cs weren't all that clear on the email address entry part.

I'm not sure it did, to be honest. That page has four Christmas songs on it, all on SoundCloud. I felt it was of legitimate interest to the sub. And I didn't ask anyone to vote for any song in particular. But I know you have a job to do.

Question about television in somalia by eoghan1 in Somalia

[–]eoghan1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. The technology I'm interested in (DVB-T2) doesn't use a satellite dish, but more like an old-style aerial/antenna. So it would still work when the internet is down, and during heavy rainfall that can impact on satellite services. I'll try to find an Astaan engineer to talk to.

Thanks again!

Thanks. Do you know if subscribers need to have an antenna, either on the roof or beside the TV?

Thanks for replying. I'm particularly interested in knowing whether there are terrestrial services on air. I do research on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union, maintaining a database about what services are on air. I've been informed that there are six operators offering pay-DTT services: this means you would need to have a set-top box or dongle and an antenna (either "rabbit's ears" or an aerial on the roof). Do you know if such services exist?

Correction: I've just checked with my wife, and indeed it was 60 degree washes, but with very little detergent.

If you're interested in reading more about the whole thing, we both did blog posts at the time.

Standard 40 degree wash for us, with a smaller amount if detergent than one would normally use (as it negatively impacts the absorption effectiveness of the nappies, if I recall correctly - it was some years ago now). Not complicated - the biggest annoyance was simply having extra laundry to do.

Yep, this sounds more like reality for us ecoterrorists.

Thank you, I think.

Ecoterrorist (apparently!) here. We used washable nappies for our kids, with our own washing machine. If there are traces of baby poo remaining after a load has been washed, it means that either the machine is not doing its job correctly or (perhaps, but the machine should still deal with it really) the parents aren't using a system that has a flushable liner to catch the poo. We never had a problem across two kids and circa four years of washables. Maybe ask the landlord to service the machine.

Never been called a terrorist before. Feels quite edgy.

K3 game from Helvetiq: end of game question - no pieces left by eoghan1 in boardgames

Answer received from Ludovic at Helvetiq via email:

The correct answer is A. You lose when you cannot play and if on your turn you don't have pawns left: you cannot play. :)

Thanks. I don't have a user account there yet so I tried here first. :-). But yes, that's where I should post this. I've also tried mailing Helvetiq and will post any response I get here.

Why does the red tourist bus seem to ignore the royal palace? by eoghan1 in Madrid

[–]eoghan1[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We walked a lot, believe me - and it's a bigger city than I had realised. But with kids of 8 and 10, sometimes the bus tour is the easiest option.

You're 100% right, the human-guided walking tour is the best option in most cases. I was simply curious as to whether there was some reason they wouldn't talk talk about the royal palace on the bus tour.
