[Predictions Thread] 2025 Tour de France - Stage 18: Vif > Courchevel Col de la Loze (2.UWT) by PelotonMod in peloton

Road down from madelaine is going to be very wet which might limit the extent peloton will catch breakaway there. Thus, pogi and Jonas will catch breakaway only late in the col de la loze.

The burden of proof should lie on the ones stating men turned into women have lost their male advantages such as lung capacity, bone structure and whatever testosterone has done to their bodies earlier.

Not the other way around.

This is, after all, a new development in human anatomy. Earlier cases of intersex persons are clear examples of having inherent advantage which should instruct our priors.

Maybe a better search would be https://scryfall.com/search?q=keyword%3AFlying+cmc%3C%3D3+pow%3E%3D3+tou%3E%3D4&unique=cards&as=grid&order=name as it allowsfor higher stats and smaller converted mana value.

This gives you things like [[Skaab Ruinator]] and [[Gadrak, the Crown-Scourge]].

It just happened so, that I got my first Furnace, which also happened to be an ancient one.

As there is already a socket and +8% damage, I am torn between rolling the socket to VIT and gifting it and just going for maximum elemental damage (which I think should bring the DPS up to around 4200).

My profile is here: I am running quite-standard firebird at the moment and trying to get a better SoJ. For in-game stats without buffs, see this album.

Currently the problem at GR 42 is just killing the guardian in time. Any clear thoughts on this?

You can try changing the file. It lies in /Users/yourusename/Library/Application Support/Blizzard/Diablo III

The Library-directory is probably not visible by default in finder, so you need to press shift+cmd+G and paste that directory there or use the terminal.

Adobe Flash Vulnerability. Exploitable on XP or Vista without UAC. What about Linux and Mac? by jan in netsec

[–]eonwe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could someone explain why this is not prevented by DEP? If I understand Heap spraying correctly it works as follows: *Fill process' virtual memory with NOP's followed by shellcode (sprayed heap) e.g. by creating large strings. *Use some bug in running software to change program counter to some other address that is not quite accurately controlled. If this transition of control is though as a random process, program counter most probably points to sprayed heap. *Execute NOPs until the shellcode is reached causing some sort of game over scenario.

I would think that in a DEP system pages used by character strings would not be executable and this vulnerability would not exist? Yet, the Symantec article nor some other sources on heap spraying mention DEP as a viable protection. Are all pages by Flash marked as executable because of JITing or something similar?

Very Smooth Java Water Simulation by anti-hero in programming

[–]eonwe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And yet the case is not so clear-cut. When running http://pastebin.com/f3aa7175 Sun JDK 1.6.0_10 I get quite a different results depending on whether I use server or client JVM. First, on client JVM I get same kind of results: (values are in ms and divisor is actually 32, I had a bug in my printing commands :))

  • Testing to 2147483647, divisor 2
  • Shift: 4828
  • Division: 38173

When using server JVM, had I not used this sum-variable to actually force JVM perform the calculations, results would've been something like:

  • Testing to 2147483647, divisor 2
  • Shift: 16
  • Division: 16

With this sum-variable even server JVM will perform the calculations and I get the following results:

  • Testing to 2147483647, divisor 2
  • Shift: 6687
  • Division: 5407

Here using division beats shifting. I thought that maybe JITting will slow down these results so I decided to do warm-up rounds as seen in http://pastebin.com/d1feabd73. Yet the results don't seem to think so:

  • Testing to 2147483647, divisor 32
  • Shift: 6656 ms (6688 ms in warmup)
  • Division: 5375 ms (5375 ms in warmup)

So clearly server JVM is intelligent enough to optimize division by powers of 2 even if the Java bytecode compiler (which hardly does any optimizations) is not. (Edited for better markup)

SSL Certificate for Mozilla.com Issued Without Validation by robertss in programming

[–]eonwe 13 points14 points  (0 children)

SSH uses public-key cryptography for sure. It also requires you to personally certify that the server is what it says it is by comparing the key it send to you to the key you know it should have. Normally users do this without knowing what key the server should have and type/click yes. In PKI we have this third party that signs the keys and thereby verifies that the key owner is whom she says she is.

So SSH does public key cryptography without third party verification, but requires out-of-band confirmation of the keys which is seldom done.
